This month I've been testing out lots of new things and some old favourites have stayed around. So I'm excited to share what makeup I've been reaching for lately....
Silk oil of Morocco Argan Oil Antioxidant Primer | £9.99*
I've been wanting to try an oil primer for quite sometime so I was excited to try this. Although this isn't an oil, it does contain natural argan oil. But I've been really enjoying this! It has a light, creamy texture that feels more like a skincare product. It really hydrates my dehydrated skin and leaves it smooth and ready for makeup.
Boots Time Delay Flawless Primer | £10.99 POST
I've been really loving this primer. I'm amazed at how well this blurs skin! Its does feel slightly silicon-y but not like it will suffocate the skin. This really blurs everything before I've even applied makeup and leaves my skin silky smooth. It also really helps prolong makeup wear, all without drying my skin out. Which is a massive win, I tend to find primers that are aimed at making makeup last longer are to drying for me. I highly recommend this primer. Its brilliant!
Seventeen Skin Wow Concealer | £4.99 POST
For concealer this has been my go to! It's great for concealing dark circles and really reflects the lights and makes me look awake. And what's better is the price! This is a great drugstore concealer.
Milani 2 in1 Perfect & Concealer Foundation | £9.99
I've spoke about this before (here) and how much I really like it but the staying power isn't good. But teamed with the Boots primer it lasts all day! This is a great full coverage foundation, thats lightweight. I like the finish, it's not matte or cakey looking, it's a nice satin finish. But it has like a plumping effect on my skin and really makes my skin look smoother and flawless! Side note: did you know Milani had come to the Uk? See this post.
Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done | £25
Another base that has been in my rotation lately is this offering from Urban Decay. This is a super lightweight tinted moisturiser hybrid. This is so lightweight but still offers pretty good coverage. It has a satin finish which is really good, I tend to find tinted moisturisers really shiny looking. And it lasts all day without powder! An all round good base product.
Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette | $46
For contour I've used nothing else since I got this! It's brilliant! It contains 6 powders, 3 darker shades for contouring and 3 lighter shades for highlighting. My favourite ones are the two middle ones on the top and bottom. The Yellow shade is perfect for setting under eye concealer and really brightens the whole area without adding a Yellow cast. It also looks amazing in pictures. The Bottom centre contour shade is equally as brilliant! It really creates a shadow effect. I'm amazed by it! All the powders are silky smooth, apply evenly (i was shocked at how evenly it swatched) and are easy to blend out.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow | £39
How pretty is the palette! All the highlighters really give a radiant glow to the face and really give the cheek bones added oomph! I was suprised at how big this palette actually is, you get Four generously sized pans for you money! The pans are also removable so they're easily put in any palette. My favourite shade is Dripping in Gold. Which is a stunning Champagne toned highlight. Sunburst is also beautiful and perfect for when I really want a knockout highlight, it has a super metallic sheen and almost neon.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush | £32
We all know how much I love the Ambient Lighting powders so I thought it was about time I picked a blush. And I'm so glad I did. The shade Luminous Flush is a stunning Pink colour. I love these kind of shades, they make me look awake and alive. The formula is incredible - Soft, smooth, well pigmented and easy to blend! It also gives a luminous glow to the cheek without any glitter. Its pricy but well worth it in my opinion! I will certainly be adding more to my collection.
Makeup Geek Shadow Pans | £4.95 - £7.95
Regular readers will probably know that since discovering Makeup Geek shadows, any other ones have rarely had a look in. For less than £5 per pan you really get a lot for your money. Most shadows are creamy, well pigmented and easy to work with. I've recently been swatching my small Z palette up a bit and my go to shades have been:
Rapunzel - I'm still baffled at how I've hit pan on this. Its a beautiful, Champagned toned shade. It makes a great highlight shade, but I really love this as an eyeshadow base or worn alone all over the lid.
Cupcake - This is a new addition to my collection. Its a light dusky matte Pink. This works great as a transition shade. I really like this in the crease with Grandstand all over the lid,
Frappe - This is a warm toned mid Brown that is a perfect transition colour and adds dimension to almost any eye look.
Grandstand - This is a Rose Gold Copper colour with a Foil finish. This is quite a strange (in a good way) shade. It looks warm but has a slight, Taupe-y undertones at the same time. The colour is simply beautiful and looks great all over the lid. All the foiled finish shadows I've tried are brilliant and this one is no exception.
Marroco - I love Orange shades and this is a beautiful matte Orange colour. This is perfect for adding warmth to the crease and the overall look.
Cosmopolitan - This is another one of my favourite shades. This is a stunning Rose Gold colour with a shimmer finish. It's a perfect lid colour! This is also blendable, well pigmented and lasts well. I like to use this all over the lid, Frappe through the crease and light dusting of Marocco through the crease for a warm Rose Gold eye look.
Americano - Another new addition. This is a dark matte Brown with Purple undertones. I really like this shade, its great for the outer v and adding drama to any look.
Cherry Cola - This is a Burgundy matte shade. I really like this shade it looks great in the outer v or crease.
Brownie Points - This is a Grey taupe-y kind of colour. I really like this through the crease.
I talk about this all the time. But it is just one the best mascaras i've used. It adds length, volume and holds all day!
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite lipsticks! Its a beautiful Blue toned Pink that just looks beautiful on the lips. Its matte formula that isn't drying and last a long time!
Sleek have released their new line of matte liquid lipsticks and Shabby Chic has made it into my collection. I have heard these have been reformulated, I haven't actually had a chance to test against one from the original line. But the applicator is different. Its smaller which makes it easier to achieve precise application. I did find this slightly drying but i really liked the shade so i have been reaching for it none the less!
So thats been my go to makeup lately. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
Until next time...
