My 'Go To' Makeup Edit

On a day to day basis I tend to go for same look - glowy skin, brown eye shadow and a nude / brown lip. So I thought I'd share with you my favourite products to create this look...

Base:

I tend to go for fresh dewy skin all year round. Its rare that I reach for a fully matte foundation and when I do I use a lot of illuminating powders to make it glow. But I'm so into bb, cc and tinted moisture hybrids at the moment...

Becca Back light Primer Filter | £32                                                                                 POST

For primer I love illuminating primers. Having dehydrated dull skin, they really perk my skin up and stop my skin drinking the moisture out of my foundation. This primer illuminates skin in a way no other has! It leaves behind a gorgeous glow with any glitter, it also smoothes the skin for a flawless foundation application.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done | £25                                                            POST

This is one those tinted moisturiser Hybrids. This isn't too glow-y nor too matte its a perfect satin finish. The coverage is light to medium, which is really good. I was expecting something a lot more sheer. And the staying power is so good, it stays flawless all day on me!

Bareminerals Complexion Rescue | £26                                                                      POST

This little gem has slowy become one my all time favourite bases. When I first picked this up last year I wasn't a fan of it, but now I find myself reaching for it almost everyday! It really does rescue my dull complexion; it brightens it, unifies skin tone and leaves my skin looking fresh and glowy!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation | 29                                                               POST

For days when I want a little more coverage, I reach for this. Its has a good medium, buildable coverage. The finish is still on the glowy side, but it looks natural. This is a good all round foundation!

LA Girl Pro HD Concealer | £5                                                                                          POST

I tend to switch up my concealer a lot! But this has become a daily staple. I have the yellow corrector shade which is perfect for my dark circles. The formula is creamy, easy to blend and build without creasing. Although I do think the formula of this is different from the regular shades, I found those a little drying, and the looked really dry on the skin.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | £22.50                                                                   POST

To highlight and futher conceal my dark circles, this, I think is one of the best concealers I've tried! Its so creamy, doesn't crease, or crack and lasts all day! This is worth every 2250 penies!

Maybelline 24HR Superstay Concealer | £6.19                                                            POST

For any belmishes or reddness this is my go too. Its perfect for areas around the face. The coverage is good and it really does stay all day! This isn't too drying either. Theres nothing worse than a drying concealer.

Hourglass Ambiant lighting Palette | £59                                                                    POST

I've expressed my dislike for powders several times. I find most too drying or too matte for my liking. Until I discovered these! They are perfect for setting makeup whilst adding a subtle glow to the skin! I like to use all Three, The dim light to set all my makeup, Radiant light as a bronzer on my cheeks and Incandesenct light to highlight the centre of my face and cheek bones. Another pricey product but well worth it!

Blush

Blush is another thing I tend to switch up regularly. But I tend to go for Berry, Bronzy shades on a day to day basis.

L'Oreal Sculpt Blush | £7.99

This is has been a firm favourite. The Nude Beige is a beautiful Bronze shade with a subtle sheen to it. It looks lovely on the cheeks. Blends well and lasts all day!

Milani Baked Blush | £7.49

Milani Baked Blushes are brilliant; From the shade range to the formula! The shade Berry Amore is a Berry toned blush with Gold shimmers running though it. It blends with ease, and lasts all day.

Contour

Yes, I like to contour everyday, I just don't feel right without it anymore. I don't go crazy with it though, just some subtle definition..

Makeup Geek Contour Pan | £7.95

If you a regular reader you know all about my love for Makeup Geek shadows, so it was a high probability that I would love their contour pans too! And the shade Half Hearted is my go to contour. The shade is cool, but leans over so slightly warm. Which I find works so much better on me than very cool tones, they make me look like I haven't had a wash in while! The formula is so creamy, soft and easy to blend! These are crazy pigmented so a light hand is needed!

Highlighters..

Highlighters are becoming a bit of an obsession with me. I love the way they just make me look better! And they help create the perfect glowy, fresh look that I love...

Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal | £32

I've never tried a highlighter that is so soft! It's so soft, it melts into the skin with minimal effort and gives a stunning luminous, champagned glow to the face! I like to dust this on top of my cheek bones and down the centre of my face.

Sleek Solictice Highlighter Palette | £9.99

This will come as no surprise to regular readers but this is another one of my favourite highlighters for creating a fresh, dewy glow. This bargain palette contains 4 highlighters, 3 of which are powders and 1 is a cream. I really love the Peachy Gold highlighter in the palette. It really packs a punch in terms of glow-yness and looks so pretty! All the shades are formulated without any glitter and the all glide onto the skin easily! See my full review with swatches here.

TopShop Glow Pot | £9

I also enjoy a cream highlight. And this is the best cream highlight I've used. Not only does it give a lovely subtle sheen, it doesn't disrupt any of my base products! I believe the shade I have is limited edition but Gleam is still available.

Eyes...

On days where I'm not really up to much I normally just go for winged liner and Mascara. But since my discovery of Makeup Geek, I've been reaching for shadow almost daily...

Makeup Geek Shadow pans | £4.95

If affordable, blendable, well pigmented eyeshadows are what your looking for definitely check out Makeup Geek. They are fantastic! My favourite shades are:

Runpzel - This is great Champagne highlight shade. But I really like it as an eye shadow base. I also wear this alone on days when I don't have time to be blending 3+ shadows, for a beautiful, barely there finish.

Creme Brulee - A light warm toned brown. This a perfect crease colour.

Cosmopolitian - A lovely Rose Gold colour. This looks great all over the lid.

Frappe - This is very similar to Latte only more warm in tone.

Cocoa Bear - A stunning warm, Reddish Brown colour. I love this in the outer V, crease and sometimes all over the lid.

Cherry Cola - This is very similar to Bitten. It looks Purple in the pan but I find it translates to a Reddish, warm toned Brown.

Granstand - This is one of the prettiest shades I own. Its a foil finish so really packs a punch in terms of shimmer. The shade is a Rosey Coppery shimmer colour. This looks stunning all of the lid.

Magic Act - Another foil finish that is a beautiful Gold colour! Perfect all over the lid. Or as a highlight on darker skin tones.

Chickadee - Is a kind of Yellow, Mustard colour. This is one of my favourite shades! I like to use in the crease, and Magic Act all over the lid for a quick easy, yet put together eye look!

See My Makeup Geek Collection with swatches for more details.

Soap & Glory SuperCat Liner | £6

For winged liner this liner pen is great. It's a relatively new addition but its so brilliant I had to mention it! The tip is small and stiff enough to create the perfect wing. Its also really black, which its great as i find more drugstore liquid liners aren't really black.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner | £7.99

This is another one of my favourite products for creating winged liner. The gel is really smooth making it easy to apply. I like to apply it with my Zoeva Angled liner brush. It stays really Black all day with fading, smudging or flaking.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £7.99

No surprises for regular readers but this is one of the best mascaras I've ever tried! Which, I find strange because I tend to prefer L'Oreal mascaras. In fact there's not one other Maybelline Mascara I like. But this really is amazing. It does everything; length, volume and holds the curl all day, without flaking or smugding.

Brows...

Rimmel Professional Eye Brown Pencil | £2.99

I always say I want to be more experimental in term of brow products, but I just haven't found anything as good as this. The shade 002 Hazel is perfect for me, the formula is so easy to work with too - It just glides on without dragging. I find it super easy and conveiant.

Lips...

Matte, Nude and Brown tones are my favourite every day lipsticks. I'm also currently obsessed with liquid lipsticks too at the moment...

NYX Lip Lingeries | £6.50                                                                                             POST

Liquid lipsticks have been like a revolution to my makeup bag. Rich colour payoff, super long lasting, and these NYX offering aren't drying at all! I have two shades that I've been pretty much wearing non stop: Push Up which is a Pinky nude. This shade though is a little too pale for me but if I pair it with a Brown liner its perfect. And Exotic which is a Browny kind of Red colour.

MAC Matte Lipsticks | £15.50

For no fuss, chuck on and go lipsticks I reach for either Velvet Teddy or Taupe. Velvet Teddy is my all time favourite lipstick shade and my perfect nude. It has a perfect balance of Pink and Brown tones for my skin tone. Taupe is a beautiful, mid toned Brown colour, that is perfect for giving me a bold but not too bold, or over the top look.

So there my favourite products for creating my go to look! What you go to look?

Until next time...
