A Few Drugstore Discoveries

Theres nothing I love more than finding purse friendly, effective products. So I'm always in the drugstore trying to find these inexpensive products. If you're new here then 'a few drugstore discoveries' is a regular feature where I share what I've discovered recently in the drugstore. This month I haven't done as much drugstore shopping as I normally do. Nothing has really jumped out at me when I've been in there. But I have purchased a few products that are worth mentioning...

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus Unifiant Medium | £16.50

I tried the original Effaclar Duo a while ago. I didn't overly notice it did anything drastic or worth reporting to my skin. But they recently launched the tinted version and I thought I'd give it another go. The new version offers all the same skin benefits as the first (unblocks pores, fades marks) but this also offers a bit of coverage. The coverage is very light. I went for the shade medium which is a good match. But I found that this went patchy after an hour or so of wear. So I decided to use it as a primer and it worked much better. The formula of it is nice, light and absorbs into the skin instantly without leaving any residue or tackiness behind. I've been using this on and off for around 2 months now and I haven't noticed any improvement to skin. But I know this is highly raved about by many, so this would be nice if it works for you.

Barry M Glowmance Soft Focus Primer | £5.99

Barry M recently launched this new primer. A primer that promises to illuminate and blur the skin. I was really excited to try this. I tend to find that illuminating primers only illuminate and don't do much else. So one that promises to blur as well sounded promising. Unfortunatly this isn't great. The formula is quite thick, and while it does offer subtle illumination it doesn't really blur anything. This is ok but nothing out of the ordinary.

NYX Mineral Stick foundation | £10.50

I picked this up in the hope it would be a dupe of the Clinique Stick foundation, which I love. And I was really surprised that this comes very close! Don't let this put you of because it's a stick foundation, this isn't cakey or heavy at all. It's really creamy, easy to apply and blends out with minimal effect. The coverage it medium, but it can be built up to full coverage. The staying power is good, it lasts all day on me! My only issue is the shade. I went for 08 which was the best match for me. But it's too Pink in tone, I need something more Yellow based. But if you can get a good shade match, I highly recommend this!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleansing Water | £7.99

Neutrogena have launched a new line of hydrating products, which really intrigued me. However, after reading a few bad reviews on the moisturiser I decided to skip that and pick up this cleansing water. It's essentially a micellar water but it adds some extra hydration. Having dehydrated skin, this is right up my street. And I really like this! While I'm not sure if it actually makes my skin more hydrated its not drying or stripping. It also does a really good job of removing my makeup. I also like to use it in the morning to wipe any residue left over from my night time skincare products. Another great little find!

GOSH Give Me Sun Giant Highlighter | £13.99

I ordered this online and when I read giant, I was not expecting it to be actually giant! It's huge! It's like the size of my face. I can't imagine I'm every going to run of this. But the highlighter itself is really nice. It's a Champagne tone, that's finely milled and catches the light well. It's more subtle than some highlighters I own, but this makes it perfect for everyday wear.

L'Oreal Golden Highlighter | £6.99

I'm sure I'm not alone in rushing out to buy this! The formula is pretty much identical to the ColourPop Highlighter formula. That strange, moussey, but dry consistency, that works amazingly on the face. The highlighter is quite Gold in tone and shimmers beautifully on the cheek bones. I find the best way to apply it is with my fingers or a stippling brush. The staying power is incredible, this literally lasts all day on me, even after the rest of my makeup has faded, smudged or moved. I think this is limited edition so I highly recommend stocking up!

So that's everything I've brought from the drugstore recently.

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
