Seriously Under-rated Makeup

I think we all own at least one product that is way over hyped. But I own so many that are under hyped too. I have a few pieces of makeup that are seriously under rated, or maybe I've missed the hype or something. But anyway I wanted to share these with you...

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation | £ 27                                                                        POST

Everybody raves about the Naked Skin concealer, and for good reason it is brilliant. But it's foundation counter part is equally as great but doesn't get the love! It's lightweight, easy to blend, has good staying power and medium coverage. But it's the finish I love most about it. It gives a satin finish whilst still offering a subtle glow and looks so natural. This paired with Naked Skin concealer make the skin look flawless!

NYX HD Foundation | £12.50                                                                                           POST

I have a list of things I love from NYX that the majority of people love too, but I feel this foundation is over looked. But It really is great. I much prefer it over the Makeup Forever HD Foundation - which in my opinion is rubbish. This one offers good, buildable coverage, a finish similar to the Naked Skin Foundation, and it wears really well throughout the day. There's really nothing not to love about this.

Maybelline Super Stay 24HR Concealer | £6.19                                                            POST

This has been one of my go to concealers for a long time. It's perfect for blemishes. It has good coverage, great staying powder and it isn't overly drying. I much prefer this over the much loved Collection concealer and I'm surprised more people don't.

Sleek Blush By 3 Pink Lemonade | £9.99

I remember a time when everybody was talking about the Sleek Blush by 3 Lace Palette but not Pink Lemonade. Sleek are well know for their intensly pigmented blushes and this little palette houses some amazing shades. It has 2 powder formulas and a cream one. The cream one ( Macaroon) is a matte Pinky, Mauve colour, that blends out so easily and lasts all day. Pink Tint is similar to Macaroon but in a powder formula with shimmer in it. Icing Sugar is my favourite, it's a lovely Pinky Rose gold colour with subtle shimmers in it. This looks stunning on the cheeks and gives them a gorgeous glow. As with all sleek blushes, the formula is creamy and easy to blend. They also last all day without fading.

Stila The eyes Are The Window Soul Palette | £30

This palette is easily the most under-rated product out of all the ones here! This to me is what the Original Naked Palette is to others. It has a range of warm and cool nude shades, as well as Black and Grey. All the shades are well pigmented, creamy and easy to blend. It can create almost any eye look. All housed in a beautiful Rose Gold and Rose packaging! See this post for swatches.

L'Oreal Color Riche Eye Shadow | £5.49

These are the best drugstore eye shadows I've tried (I think). They are so creamy and pigmented, I'm shocked more people don't talk about them (well not that I've seen). My favourites are 107 Macaron Vanille, which is a creamy matte Yellow-y Beige colour. And 500 Luminere which is a stunning Gold Champagne colour.

Theres my little round of products that deserve more love. What are yours?  Have you tried any of these?

Until next time...

Current Lip Rotation

I tend to switch my lip products up quite regularly but recently I've found myself reach for the same ones. So today I though I'd share you what's in my current rotation...

NYX Lip Lingerie and NYX Lip Butter | £6.50 & £5                                                 POST

I've been loving Pairing NYX lingerie in Bedtime Flirt with The NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Madeleine. This is totally a Jaclyn Hill inspired look. Bedtime Flirt is a matte nude liquid lipstick and the Lip Butter is the slighest, smoothest Brown nude gloss. Paired together they make the perfect nude glossy lip. But because the Lip Lingeries is a liquid lipstick with brilliant staying power it also helps the gloss last longer. I love a glossy lip but I hate that it wears of so easily so its the perfect combo!

NYX Liquid Suede | £6.50                                                                                               POST

My love for liquid lipsticks is well documented and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon. These Liquid Suedes are super matte, longlasting and non drying. The shade Softly Spoken is the one I reach for most. Its a dusty Rose colour with Brown undertones, that goes with almost any makeup look.

MAC Mehr | £15.50                                                                                                       POST

My newest MAC lipstick to my MAC collection, i have no idea why I didn't by this sooner. It's a stunning dirty Bluey Pink. Its not an overly bold Pink though, but bold enough to be noticed. It's from the matte line, which is super creamy and long lasting. Theres nothing not to love about this and for that reason I find myself reaching for often.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss | £5.50

I've been loving a glossy lip. This intense butter gloss is the same formula as the orginial butter glosses but has much more pigment, their almost opique. My favourite shade is     which is reddish brown colour. Like the Butter Glosses these are silky soft and non sticky. The lasting power isn't the best but ok for gloss, it lasted around 1-2hours but the looks is well it!

Colour Pop Lippie Stix | $5

A Pinky Brown lip is my kind of lip colour so the shade Brink from Colour Pop fits the bill perfectly! This is matte lipstick but it doesn't feel matte at all! It applies so easily and doesn't drag or pull the lips. The staying power isn't the best for a matte lipstick but at $5 who can complain and the shade is pretty! See how I got Colour Pop to the Uk here.

Essence Lip Liner | £1

I like lining my lips before I apply most lip products. I really like the way it makes my lips more plump and it helps the staying power of whatever I apply on the top. And for the price I yet to find a better quality. I have a few shades and they're all creamy and apply beautifully! The shade 03 is my favourite. It goes with almost any of my favourite lip colours, especially Brink.

So they are my current lip products in my rotation

What are you current go to lip products?

Until next time...

The Summer Makeup Edit

So its officially British summer time. The weather may not be cooperating but hopefully it will soon. So I thought I'd share with you some of my beauty essentials.

Base...

It's no secret I love dewy, fresh looking skin. But in the summer I tone it down a bit just so I don't end up looking like a sweaty mess!

This multi tasking cream is an instant quick fix for dull tired looking skin. It can be used as primer, moisturiser, mixed with foundation or as a highlighter. I really like this as a primer. The White iridescent cream smoothes over the skin helping with any dry patches, and leaves an illuminated base that gives most foundations a beautiful glow.

This is such a great foundation for summer. Its really lightweight, whilst offering a medium buildable coverage. As the name suggests this really does stay flawless looking all day. And its virtually melt proof, making a perfect base for hot days. It also has SPF 30 which is also a plus.

Urban Decay One & Done | £25                                                                                       POST

Another foundation that would be good at withstanding the heat is this little beauty! It's a hybrid foundation and skin care product all in one. The coverage is pretty good considering it's described as being light coverage. Again this stays put all day!

Theres nothing worse then spending hours in the sun trying to achieve the perfect natural tan, then none of your foundations match your body. Don't worry the Body Shop has you back! This product is a liquid bronzer that you can mix with foundations to make them darker. This really works well - it doesn't alter the formula of the foundation at all! It can also be used under foundation or alone to give a sun kissed look.

Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder | £15*                                                                              POST

On a day to basis I use my Hourglass powders but when I really want my makeup to withstand the heat and last all day, I reach for this. Its a loose powder, which is a bit more effort to apply but the extra effort is well worth it if I want my base to stay in place. It doesn't leave a White cast either, it just sets makeup brilliantly.

Maybelline Super Stay 24Hr Setting Spray | £6.99

Setting spray is a must for summer. This is my favourite setting spray by far. I actually prefer it over Urban decay (see battle of the setting sprays for more details). This does need a shake before using and spray it at arms length to prevent any White spots.

Mario Badescu Facial spray with aloe and herbs | £10.95

There isn't a better time for facial spray than the summer. This makes a great facial toner, it can also be used as a setting spray or just refreshing spritz - which is how I like to use it. Its really cooling and makes a great makeup refresher and helps to stop it drying it out in the sun.

Cheeks...

Summer skin calls for Bronzed, glow-y sunkissed cheeks...

Expect to see lots of this palette in coming posts, I'm completely smitten with it! I have a full review of it here. It contains 3 gorgeous blushes that are perfect for the warmer months, they stay all day and look stunning on the cheeks. And 2 highlighters to achieve the ultimate glow. My favourite is Champagne Pop. Which is the most perfect buttery soft, Champagne toned highlight.

L'Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soliel | £14.99

I've been really enjoying this lately and its perfect for summer. Its a cushion compact, liquid bronzer. Similar to the CC Cushion Foundation (read about that here). It's really easy to apply, I like to use a stippling brush to apply to all the places the sun would naturally hit. The bronzer actually dries really matte and isn't sticky or foundation like at all. The staying power is really good to! A perfect summer bronzer.

I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Bronzer | £4.99

I love a multi task product. And this is a highlight and bronzer in one. It has Red undertones so it really gives a natural look. The shimmer also makes the skin look really healthy and glow-y but nothing over the top. It applies smoothly, no dreaded patchy-ness and lasts all day.

Eyes...

These could potentially last 24hrs. I've not actually tried this but these do not budge! They're also really easy to just swipe on and they come in a range of shades. My favourites are:

  • On and On Bronze - Which is a lovely Bronze colour. Perfect for any makeup look
  • Creme de Nude - A creamy nude with Yellow undertones. I love this as an eyeshadow base.
  • Metallic Pomegranate - This is a stunning Pomegranate Red with rusty metallic sheen.
  • Pink Gold -  a beautiful metallic Pink that glistens Gold. This is a perfect summer shade.

This palette as the name suggests is perfect for summer. With a range of warm tones, Coppers and a deep Burgundy. All the shades just scream summer to me! All the shadows are soft, pigmented and last all day. The only downside is there isn't mattes. But it's still a great palette! See this post for swatches.

Lips...

During the warmer months I'm all about a low maintenance lip...

I love these butter glosses regardless of the time of year but they finish off any summer look so well. My favourites are Madeline and Angle Food Cake. Angle Food Cake is more of a Mauve-y nude and Madeleine is a beautiful nude colour. These look stunning on there own or over the top of lipsticks. The smell is good enough to eat and they aren't sticky at all.

This is a tinted balm like lipstick that has a subtle seen. The shade As If is a perfect throw on and go shade. Its a muted Coral. This isn't sticky and its super low maintenance. No mirror required. But still has enough pigment to pull any look together.

What are you summer makeup essentials?

New Palette Additions | Anastasia Beverly Hill & Becca

There has been some exciting palette launches the month. And as soon as I'd heard about the about them i sat and patiantly wanted, bank card in hand, for their Uk launch. So here I am with the these to beauties!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette | £41

As soon as I see pictures of this palette I knew I had to have it. 14 beautiful warmed toned shadows all in one palette, I just couldn't say no. And I'm not disappointed. All the shadows, with the exception of Love Letter, that one is slightly gritty, are buttery soft and really pack a punch in terms of pigment! The shades are:

Tempera - A pale creamy Beige with a matte finish. I really like this an eye shadow base. It also makes a stunning matte highlighter.

Golden Ochre - A Yellow, Beige colour with a matte finish. The swatch didn't pick up well on camera but it translates well on the eyes.

Vemeer - A pale Pink with a shimmer finish. This is incredibly soft and pigmented! This works well as a highlight or all over the lid.

Buon Fresco - A matte Lilac.

Antique Bronze - This a stunning dark Brown with a Golden Cranberry shimmer. This is a beautiful lid colour.

Love Letter - This is slightly grittier than the other shades, but it still blends well and is well pigmented. The shade is a very bright Raspberry Pink.

Cyprus Umber - A matte Chocolate Brown. This is soft and I did notice a bit of fall out with this in particular but nothing I can't live with.

Raw Sienna - A warm, mid toned, matte Brown. This makes an excellent crease colour.

Burnt Orange - This a warm Orange with a matte finish. This is one of my favourite shades! I like to use it in the crease.

Primavera - A champagned toned shimmer. Another one of my favourites. This looks stunning all over the lid.

Red Ochre - A deep Red colour. This is perfect for adding more warmth to an eye look, and in the outter v. I also really like it on the lower lash line.

Venetian Red -  is a beautiful Cranberry colour with subtle shimmers running through it.

Warm Taupe - The name is very apt, its a warm, matte Taupe colour. This is another great crease shade.

Realgar - A strange Burnt Orange. Another great crease shade.

All these beautiful shades are housed in sturdy cardboard packaging with a mirror. The outside of the packaging is velvet, similar to the Naked 1 palette, which is ok but I feel like this gets dirty really easily and is difficult to clean. But the shades are so pretty I can live with it. Overall, I love this palette. I was blown away by the quality of the shadows and its started some kind Anastasia Beverly Hills obsession. I now want to try everything from the brand

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette | £48

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty this palette is! The packaging oozes luxury and is very pleasing on the eye! I've wanted the Champagne Pop highighter for the longest time and I was eyeing up the Becca Blushes, but when I heard about this I thought I'd wait and buy this palette. I'm so happy I did! The palette contains two highlighters and three blushes.

The highlighers are:

Champagne Pop  - The iconic Champagne-d toned highlight. Which is incredible! It gives the cheeks the most amazing glow. As with all Becca powder products it is so soft, easy to blend and has good colour pay off. I can see why this shade is so greatly loved!

Processco Pop - This is a Golden Yellow highlight. Which is slighlty darker than Champagne pop. It still looks stunning on the cheeks and the formula is easy to blend and work with.

The Blushes are:

Rose Spritz - This is bright Pink with a strong Gold shimmer. It reminds me of the sleek Rose Gold blush. Its finely milled, blends out with ease and is incredibly pigmented!

Amaretto - This is my favourite of the blush shades. Its a lovely muted warm Brown, with rosey undertones and subtle shimmers running through it. Again, its super pigmented and blends well. And looks stunning on the cheeks.

Pamplemousse - Is a dark Pink. This isn't for the faint hearted, you need a really light hand and the tinest amount of product - its just so pigmented! The formula is soft and blends well.

I know this whole line is going to come under some scrutiny, with the eye palette from the collection being pulled from the shelves due to forumlation issues. But I'm very happy with the palette and I've been using it every day since I got my hands on it! All the shades have good staying power and look amazing on. There's nothing not to love! This is a limited edition so get it while you can!

Have you tried these palettes? Do you plan on adding one or both to your collection?

Until next time...

Drugstore Favourites Of The Year So Far

This could easily have been a NYX favourites post. They are hands down, my favourite drugstore brand at the moment! Everything I have tried has performed incredibly well for its for price. So they are the stand out brand from the drugstore. But this isn't a NYX Post, so lets get into it...

Base...

I feel like recently the drugstore have really upped their base game. While there are high end products that I couldn't live without, the drugstore have some brilliant base products that easily give high end ones a run for their money.

Rimmel Insta Flawless | £6.99                                                                                  POST

So far this year the beauty industry has gone crazy for the whole Instagram filter thing, and while this offering from Rimmel seems a bit gimmerky, it really isn't. This is a tinted primer that adds a bit of coverage, but it also leaves skin with an amazing glow! It evens skin tone and makes a brilliant base for makeup. If you have really good skin you could easily wear this alone.

This budget friendly foundation is another great drugstore find. It has medium coverage, blends out well,  and has a glowy finish. Regular readers will know how much I love a Glow-y finish and this is perfect for achieving it! I have a full review of it here

Us Brits were waiting for what feels like forever for this to launch here, but the wait was worth it, this doesn't disappoint. It has a lightweight formula, with a buildable coverage in a strange cushion compact. I really don't see the point of the cushion thing and I'd be interested to see how it works in a standard bottle. But this really does work at achieving a healthy looking finish that lasts all day.

L.A Girl Pro Conceal | £4.99

Although this isn't technically a British drugstore brand, it has a drugstore price. it is available from Beauty Bay. Dark circles are my biggest problem, I could sleep for 12 hours and look like I've slept for 2. Seriously! So I'm always in the market for a new one. But since picking this up I've been using it everyday! I have the shade Yellow which works so well at colour collecting my dark circles. Because it is Yellow I do have to use another one over the top. Although I will mention I'm not a huge fan of the regular 'skin tone' shades of this concealer. I found them a too drying and cakey looking. But this Yellow one is creamy, easy to blend and doesn't crease!

I'm a huge fan of the NYX HD line and this concealer is no exception. While this doesn't offer full coverage, it's easy to build up. The light weight, creamy formula reminds me a lot of the Urban Decay Naked but for a fraction of the price.

Because I do wear a lot of concealer under my eyes, setting it is essential. And this NYX one is one of the best powders I've found from the drugstore! I don't tend to like powders as I find them too drying but this isn't drying at all. The Yellow tone is also really brightening without leaving  a Yellow cast.

I cannot express my love for this palette enough, it's brilliant. It's also a good dupe for the Hourglass Ambiant Lighting palette (see Hourglass vs Makeup Revolution). It has 3 good sized pans of subtle highlighting powders. I really love the darkest shade as a bronzer and the centre shade as a highlighter. All 3 of the powders are easy to work with and easy to blend. These can be used as setting powders but are slightly shimmery so if you like a matte finish I wouldn't advise it!

Cheeks...

I don't actually own that many high end blushes but I reach for this one over the ones I do have. The shade is a nude Biege which is a beautiful bronzing nude colour with shimmers running through it. It leaves behind a really nice glow to the cheeks, but nothing over the top. It lasts all day, I really can't fault it! See this post for more of the Infallible Sculpt range.

My love for this palette is well documented throughout my blog. This is, easily one of the best drugstore highlighting palettes! It has 3 powder formulas and one cream one. I'm not to fussed about the cream one but the powders are out of this world! Each are super pigmented, soft and blend out well. If you love a glow that can be seen from out of space this palette is for you! For swatches see this post.

Eyes...

I have 1 product in this category. Eyeshadow wise nothing has really compared to Makeup Geek shadows for me. Although these are still very affordable. See my Makeup Up Geek Collection with swatches here.

This is easily one of the best mascaras the drugstore has to offer! It's lengthening, volumising and lasts all day. This is an all round great mascara!

Lips...

NYX have it down when it comes to lip products! From liquid lipsticks to their Butter Glosses, the formula and shade range of each I've tried is brilliant. Hence why all my favourite lips products are from NYX...

NYX Lip Lingeries | £6.50                                                                                       POST

I'm all about liquid lipsticks at the moment and Lip Lingeries offer a great long lasting formula. They are slightly thicker than some liquid lipsticks, but this doesn't bother me. They apply easily and are comfortable on the lips. Some have said these are too drying but I didn't find that was the case. My favourite shade is Exotic which is a warm Red shade.

NYX Liquid Suede |  £6.50                                                                                            POST

Another liquid lipstick option, but unlike the Lip Lingeries these are really liquid which makes them slightly trickier to apply but not too difficult, you just need a steady hand. These aren't drying in the slightest either and last a good 4 hours before they start going patchy. My favourite shade is Softly Spoken.

Where have these been all my life? I love the formula, it's so creamy, pretty long lasting yet matte. I only have one shade Euro Trash. Whats the deal with the shade name? Its awful but the shade itself is really nice. Its a Mauve-y nude colour. I definitely need to get more shades.

So there thats all my favourite drugstore makeup of the year so far. You can see my high end favourites here.

Have you tried any of these? Whats you favourite drugstore product?

Until next time...

The AM & PM Routine Tag

I haven't actually shared my evening and morning routine on my blog so when I saw Sally from the Makeup Directory I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share some of my routine with you guys. Plus I'm super nosey so I'm looking forward to reading what everyone elses answers!

AM

What's you beauty routine?

I'm still on a mission to find my perfect cleanser for morning use. I'm yet to find one, so at the moment I just use the Pixi Glow Tonic. I find it so freshing and removes any left over residue for any skincare I've used over the night (You can read more about Glow Tonic here).  I then go in with my serum and moisturiser. I'm currently using the Good Things Argon Oil Serum and La Roche Posay Torelline Moisturiser, which is my current favourite (read more about it here).

What's for Breakfast?

I'm not a big fan of breakfast, I rarely get hungry in the mornings. Plus I'm always rushing at the door. But if I do my current favourite cereal is Chocolate Wheetabix.

Tea or Coffee?

I don't like hot drinks so neither. But I can't start the day until I've had a Diet Coke. I know, it's not very healthy but I just love it. Anybody thats knows me, knows how much I love Diet Coke!

How long does it take you to get out the door?

I have two children so weekdays we're leaving for the school run, so getting 3 people ready to leave the house can take some time! I get up at half 6 and I don't stop until 8.30 when we leave so 2 hours.

What's your go to makeup look for a fuss free morning?

I tend to go for a fuss free makeup when I'm running late but this normally means skipping eyeshadow. But, my whole base routine I never skip. Then I just wear a few coats of mascara and chuck on a lipstick. My go to, fuss free lipstick is MACs Velvet Teddy. It just makes me look more put together and its nude so perfect for fuss free days.

PM

Whats your evening beauty routine?

Obviously removing my makeup. I wet wipe to remove my eye makeup - I know, I'm a bad blogger, but I haven't found anything that removes my eye makeup so well. And then I cleanse with my Body Shop Cleansing butter. I absolutely love this stuff, it feels so luxurious and removes my base makeup so well. If I'm feeling fancy I may do mask, depending on what skin problem I want to address. But I normally reach for The Body Shop Oat and Honey mask. It leaves my skin so soft and feeling more nourished. Then I apply my La Roche Posay Moisturiser again, then add an oil over the top. I'm currently loving the Kielhs Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

Snack Time! What's in the Bowl?

I'm a huge snacker. And I have a major sweet tooth so I like to have chocolate. Galaxy is my favourite type so I tend to have a Ripple as I chill out on the sofa.

How do you unwind and prep for bed?

In the evening I love to watch a few episodes of the current programme I'm watching. At the moment I'm re-watching Orange is The New Black ready for Season 4 and I'm enjoying it as much as I did the first time. Then when I'm tired I head off to bed. Thats it really.

Cozy Up! What are you wearing?

I don't actually own that many pretty PJ sets. Being a false tanner, which I do in the evenings, they tend to get stained so I don't like to spend a lot of money on them. But I tend to go for some shorts and vest.

What are some things you do before hitting the hay?

First thing I do when I get in bed is apply lip balm. Waking up with dry lips is not a good feeling. I then check all social media platforms. I normally fall asleep scrolling through Instagram.

I hope you're enjoyed this! I tag all my readers to do this. Let me know if you do so I can read your answers.

Until next time...

The Brow Edit

I feel like I don't often talk about brows on here and I've realised I actually have quite a collection of brow products. I'm not a huge fan of big fake drawn on brows, they just don't suit me. I like my brows to be there but not the first thing you see when you look at me. I'm quite fortunate with my brows, I never jumped on the whole over plucking bandwagon so they just need a bit colour to add extra definition. So here I am with some brow products...

Rimmel Professional Brow Pencil | £2.99

This is one of the first brow products I brought, I've repurchased it many times and it's still my favourite today! The shade (002 Hazel), the formula, everything about this pencil is perfect. Even though its a dirt cheap pencil its not difficult to use, the formula is very creamy and it glides through the brow easily, making them look defined but not over the top.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Sculpt | £8.99

I definitely see why some people are put off by this, the applicator does look scary and rather strange! But the tip is designed to fill in the brows and the brush to comb them in place. Despite it looking tricky I actually found it really easy to use the tip to fill the sparse areas. Its a gel formula so once it sets those brows aren't moving! I have the shade 02 Brunette which is a good match if I use a light hand, I could probably use a shade lighter.

Soap & Glory Brow Archery | £8

This is double ended, one being a pencil and the other end being a super fine felt tip. The felt tip end scared me a bit - I didn't wanna look like I'd used a Sharpie pen to fill in brows! But I actually really like it. It makes it so easy to mimic tiny hairs and gives amazing, natural looking definition. The pencil end though, I'm not so sure about. It just crumbles everytime I try to use it. Which is super annoying. Maybe I have a dud or something. But its well worth buying just for the pen side. The shade Brownie Points is also a good match.

Collection Define & Perfect Eye Brow Powder | £4.19

Anther strange little concept from the drugstore. Its a powder with a liquid liner style tip. This is very fine so again, this makes it really easy to use. I have the light shade 01 Blonde which is good match, although I'm not blonde so this isn't promising for those who are. I do really like it but I find because its a powder I do have to use a gel over the top or it starts to fade throughout the day.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper | £5.99

I remember there was so much hype around this. With everybody say how amazing it was. It is good but I wouldn't say its amazing. It works well at setting my brows in place, but I didn't actually find it plumped them. And I can't use this on its own, I need something else underneath. I have the shade Medium / dark  but I didn't notice it over change the colour brows. But over all a pretty good brow gel.

Maybelline  Brow Drama Promade Crayon | £5.99

This is a crayon style product that's kind of a gel like formula. The crayon itself, its actually to big to draw fine hairs. But it works really well for just filling in the brows. And it sets them in place too. I have shade Dark Blonde which is actually a bit too Grey toned for me.

Essence Make Me Brow | £2.50

This is the newest edition to my brow family, and being dubbed a good dupe of Benefits famous Gimme Brow I knew I had to try it. The brush on it is so fine! It coats every hair easily and holds them in place until removal. I really like this, easily one of the best brow gels out there!

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara | £4.99

This really is like mascara for brows! It really holds them in place and sets almost like a mascara. I have to use a really light hand or it makes my brows feel crispy and stuck down! The brush is strange. Its like a round ball, it could be smaller but it's ok. If you have really bushy, unruly brows, this is definitely for you!

Have tried any of these? What are your current favourite brow products?

Until next time...

Drugstore Skincare | The Good, The Bad & The Ugly part 2

As promised I have Drugstore skincare part Two. You can see part One here. I think there may be a part 3 because I have so much drugstore skincare that I haven't managed to fit it all into this post. So lets get into it...

The Good (the really good)...

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluid | £17.50                                                         POST

I've spoken about this so much recently but this is such a good moisturiser! It is slightly pricier than some drugstore moisturisers but its definitely worth the few extra pounds. This is aimed at people with really sensitive skin. And this is a great, fuss free product for adding intense hydration. Since using this dehyration is no longer problem.

As I said in part One, I'm a huge fan of the Good Things as a brand. They offer great affordable skin care thats free from nasties such as Prabens and mineral oils. I have been really enjoying this serum. Its really watery, it reminds me of the Vinchy Idella serum, and instantly sinks into the skin. Leaving it soft and smooth.

Superdrug Face Masks | £2.59

This range of face masks from Superdrug are a brilliant, purse friendly quick fix. I've tried all the masks from the range and I really like them all! My favourites though are the Aloe Vera which offers a gentle deep clean and smells lovely and the Strawberry Mud Mask, which genltly exfoliates to lift away dead skin cells, leaving skin smooth and radiant. I couldn't find these online to link but they are available in store.

The Bad (The ok, but not for me)...

First of all this is confusing, the name says its a night cream but on the directions it says use twice a day. I unfortunately don't sleep twice a day so the name is kind of misleading. Anyway the cream itself is quite difficult to work into the skin and I've been using it for a while and haven't noticed any difference to my pores or skin tone. So this isn't for me.

When these Moisture Match moisturisers came out I feel like everybody went crazy for them. I do really like how easy it is to find a moisturiser for your skin type. But theres an ingrediant in Garnier products that my skin doesn't like. Every time I use most Garnier products my skin goes crazy - it goes bright red and blotchy! I've included this in this category though because I feel like these are great afforable products, if your not sensitive to them.

The Ugly (The Really bad)...

This says it can be used on sensitive eyes but it's so heavily fragranced and stung my eyes a little and I don't know how someone with super sensitive eyes would cope for this. It also didn't remove my eye makeup well at all. It took 3 attempts along with the stinging before I gave up and used someting else.

I really like Soap & Glory as a brand but there are a  few items which fall below their highly set bar. And this unfortunately is one of them. When I applied it, it rolled up and kind of flaked off and continued to do this when I applied my moisturisers and then the next day had some pretty bad breakouts. So as much as I love Soap & Glory I don't love this!

Side note - skin care is so subjective and all down to the individual so although it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you!

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...

5 Affordable Liquid Lipsticks

You may be thinking that there are more than 5 liquid lipsticks in the picture. But I decided to talk about the liquid lipstick lines rather than shades. Because from some of the lines I just couldn't pick one shade and I wanted to write about the formula more than my favourite shade.  I have heard that affordable liquid lipsticks can be very hit and miss. I've tried a few that are, quite frankly, not worth the money. So here are the cream of the crop...

NYX Lip Liquid Suede | £6.50

NYX have the liquid formula down! There is a formula for everyone. The Suede formula is great. They're definitely more of a liquid than a cream. They offer intense colour, comfortable wear as well as being infused with Avocado and Vitamin E for added lip loving care. I love these. I have the shades 04 Softly Spoken and 07 Sandstorm. Softly Spoken is a beautiful, dusty Rose colour with Brown undertones. And Sandstorm is a mid toned Brown nude. Both of these look amazing on lips, although they are slightly harder to apply than the other Liquid lipsticks in the edit. Once these have dried, they aren't overly drying. And the lasting power is crazy good. I applied them in the morning, without touching up they were still visable at 4 o'clock!

NYX Lip Lingeries | £6.50

A few weeks ago there wasn't a time when i could scroll through my instagram feed without seeing a few of these. So when they lauched in Boots they flew off the shelves. And for good reason! The formula is thicker than the Suede ones and I prefer the applicator. This also drys down really quick and stays around all day. I've heard some people say these are drying but I found them very comfortable on the lips. I have 3 shades Exotic, Beauty Mark and Push Up. Exotic is my favourite, its a beautiful, warm Red colour, but its doesn't look over the top. Beauty Mark is a strong Brown colour and Push Up is a lovely nude colour.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip | $6

I'm so impressed by this offering from ColourPop and pretty gutted I didn't get more shades. This is also definitely a runny liquid lipstick that dries completely matte. Its very matte. Its actually really comfortable and not drying too. Its doesn't crack or flake, and for $5 I'm amazed at how good this is for the price. I have the shade Beeper which is a Rosey Brown colour. It lasts a good 6 hours. To see how I got colour Pop the UK see this post.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick | £9.50

These are the most pricey of bunch but well worth it. Again, this isn't drying at all. In fact i'd say this the most comfortable of the bunch because once its dried i don't really notice it on the lips and its there for the rest if the day without flacking or moving. The shade Serenity is a lovely Pink nude.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams | £5.50

These are definitely creams. The formula is almost mousse like but it drys down matte. They also smell so yummy! They aren't drying at all! The staying power isn't as good as the others I've mentioned here but Its not bad by any means! It lasts a good few hours. Because the formula is more cream like it makes them really easy to apply. Unlike the others where you need a steady hand and mirror this can be chucked on! I have two shades Athens, which is a sort of Peachy nude colour and Zurich which is a Pink nude.

I can't recommend all these liquid lipsticks enough! If I had to pick one it's NYX Liquid Suedes. The formula shade range, staying power and feel are 10 out of 10!

Have you tried any of these? Whats you favourite liquid lipstick?

Until next time...

Makeup Lately

This month  I've been testing out lots of new things and some old favourites have stayed around. So I'm excited to share what makeup I've been reaching for lately....

Silk oil of Morocco Argan Oil Antioxidant Primer | £9.99*

I've been wanting to try an oil primer for quite sometime so I was excited to try this. Although this isn't an oil, it does contain natural argan oil. But I've been really enjoying this! It has a light, creamy texture that feels more like a skincare product. It really hydrates my dehydrated skin and leaves it smooth and ready for makeup.

Boots Time Delay Flawless Primer | £10.99                                                                           POST

I've been really loving this primer. I'm amazed at how well this blurs skin! Its does feel slightly silicon-y but not like it will suffocate the skin. This really blurs everything before I've even applied makeup and leaves my skin silky smooth. It also really helps prolong makeup wear, all without drying my skin out. Which is a massive win, I tend to find primers that are aimed at making makeup last longer are to drying for me. I highly recommend this primer. Its brilliant!

Seventeen Skin Wow Concealer | £4.99                                                                                POST

For concealer this has been my go to! It's great for concealing dark circles and really reflects the lights and makes me look awake. And what's better is the price! This is a great drugstore concealer.

Milani 2 in1 Perfect & Concealer Foundation | £9.99

I've spoke about this before (here) and how much I really like it but the staying power isn't good. But teamed with the Boots primer it lasts all day! This is a great full coverage foundation, thats lightweight. I like the finish, it's not matte or cakey looking, it's a nice satin finish. But it has like a plumping effect on my skin and really makes my skin look smoother and flawless! Side note: did you know Milani had come to the Uk? See this post.

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done | £25

Another base that has been in my rotation lately is this offering from Urban Decay. This is a super lightweight tinted moisturiser hybrid. This is so lightweight but still offers pretty good coverage. It has a satin finish which is really good, I tend to find tinted moisturisers really shiny looking. And it lasts all day without powder! An all round good base product.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette | $46

For contour I've used nothing else since I got this! It's brilliant! It contains 6 powders, 3 darker shades for contouring and 3 lighter shades for highlighting. My favourite ones are the two middle ones on the top and bottom. The Yellow shade is perfect for setting under eye concealer and really brightens the whole area without adding a Yellow cast. It also looks amazing in pictures. The Bottom centre contour shade is equally as brilliant! It really creates a shadow effect. I'm amazed by it! All the powders are silky smooth, apply evenly (i was shocked at how evenly it swatched) and are easy to blend out.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow | £39

How pretty is the palette! All the highlighters really give a radiant glow to the face and really give the cheek bones added oomph! I was suprised at how big this palette actually is, you get Four generously sized pans for you money! The pans are also removable so they're easily put in any palette. My favourite shade is Dripping in Gold. Which is a stunning Champagne toned highlight. Sunburst is also beautiful and perfect for when I really want a knockout highlight, it has a super metallic sheen and almost neon.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush | £32

We all know how much I love the Ambient Lighting powders so I thought it was about time I picked a blush. And I'm so glad I did. The shade Luminous Flush is a stunning Pink colour. I love these kind of shades, they make me look awake and alive. The formula is incredible - Soft, smooth, well pigmented and easy to blend! It also gives a luminous glow to the cheek without any glitter. Its pricy but well worth it in my opinion! I will certainly be adding more to my collection.

Makeup Geek Shadow Pans | £4.95 - £7.95

Regular readers will probably know that since discovering Makeup Geek shadows, any other ones have rarely had a look in. For less than £5 per pan you really get a lot for your money. Most shadows are creamy, well pigmented and easy to work with. I've recently been swatching my small Z palette up a bit and my go to shades have been:

Rapunzel - I'm still baffled at how I've hit pan on this. Its a beautiful, Champagned toned shade. It makes a great highlight shade, but I really love this as an eyeshadow base or worn alone all over the lid.

Cupcake - This is a new addition to my collection. Its a light dusky matte Pink. This works great as a transition shade. I really like this in the crease with Grandstand all over the lid,

Frappe - This is a warm toned mid Brown that is a perfect transition colour and adds dimension to almost any eye look.

Grandstand - This is a Rose Gold Copper colour with a Foil finish. This is quite a strange (in a good way) shade. It looks warm but has a slight, Taupe-y undertones at the same time. The colour is simply beautiful and looks great all over the lid. All the foiled finish shadows I've tried are brilliant and this one is no exception.

Marroco - I love Orange shades and this is a beautiful matte Orange colour. This is perfect for adding warmth to the crease and the overall look.

Cosmopolitan - This is another one of my favourite shades. This is a stunning Rose Gold colour with a shimmer finish. It's a perfect lid colour! This is also blendable, well pigmented and lasts well. I like to use this all over the lid, Frappe through the crease and light dusting of Marocco through the crease for a warm Rose Gold eye look.

Americano - Another new addition. This is a dark matte Brown with Purple undertones. I really like this shade, its great for the outer v and adding drama to any look.

Cherry Cola - This is a Burgundy matte shade. I really like this shade it looks great in the outer v or crease.

Brownie Points - This is a Grey taupe-y kind of colour. I really like this through the crease.

I talk about this all the time. But it is just one the best mascaras i've used. It adds length, volume and holds all day!

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite lipsticks! Its a beautiful Blue toned Pink that just looks beautiful on the lips. Its matte formula that isn't drying and last a long time!

Sleek have released their new line of matte liquid lipsticks and Shabby Chic has made it into my collection. I have heard these have been reformulated, I haven't actually had a chance to test against one from the original line. But the applicator is different. Its smaller which makes it easier to achieve precise application. I did find this slightly drying but i really liked the shade so i have been reaching for it none the less!

So thats been my go to makeup lately. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
