A few Drugstore Discoveries

The drugstores are killing it at the moment with their new launches. I've been testing quite a few new things and I'm ready to report back...

Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation | £12.99

I swear this foundation took forever to come over from the US! But it's finally landed and I snapped it up straight away. First thing with this foundation is the shade range, in my local Superdrug (which is actually pretty big) There was only 4 shades to choose from and I can't actually find it online so I'm really hoping there are more than 4! I went for the shade 400 which isn't the best match but it's ok. This foundation is in a cushion form, which I still don't really see the point in but they are convenient and easy to use on the go. The coverage of this is actually pretty good, it's medium and build-able. The finish is satin almost matte but not flat. This actually reminds me a lot of the Lancome Tient Cushion Foundation but this is far cheaper! For me personally I found this a tad too drying for my dehydrated skin but I can see those with oily skin loving it! I'm also hoping this will work well on me in summer.

Maybelline Master Bronze Colour Highlighter Kit | £12.99

I don't actually own a bronzer palette so this was a welcomed addition. This palette houses 3 bronze shades and a highlighter shade. I'm not fussed by the highlighter - it's nice, I just have ones I'm loving more at the moment. The bronzers though are so good! These a good mix of versatile shades and the formula is amazing. They have a gel based formula that actually reminds me a lot of the Makeup Forever Fusion highlighter. They are well pigmented, apply smoothly, blend well and last all day. This is great drugstore gem - highly recommend!

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara* | £7.99

Another Maybelline product that has ticked all the boxes. This mascara is definitely another winner. It's a volumising mascara that really does add volume. It also adds a good amount of length. It has a bristly style brush which I don't tend to like but this is actually really good! The formula stays put all day but it's easy to remove! This is definitely worth checking out.

Sleek Distorted Dreams Highlighter Palette* | (Available May 31st)

This highlighter palette is part of the Sleek Distorted Dream Collection. Sleek highlighters are one of my favourite highlighter formulas so I was super excited to try this! The palette houses 5 highlighters; 3 cream formulas and 2 powders. The shades in this palette are a bit 'out there'. There's a Pink, a Blue and a Mint Green shade! The formula of the creams are very nice though. They're creamy and blend-able but don't blend out to nothing. The powders though are incredible, velvety soft! There is a Pink and Golden shade. The Pink shade does have quite large shimmer particles in it though. The Gold shade is the winner for me in this palette. It's gorgeous, so finely milled without any chunkiness to it at all!

Sleek Matte Me Metallics* | (Available May 31st)

Along side the Highlighter palette there are 3 metallic liquid lipsticks as part of the collection. The shades are:

Roman Bronze - which is a warm, Golden Bronze shade. It's really pigmented and non drying and definitely metallic.

Roman Copper - This shade is a Copper shade that's very similar to Roman Bronze only slightly more copper toned. The formula is the same to.

Rusted Rose - Is a metallic Purple colour. This shade isn't as good as the other Two though. This applied a little sheerer and took some building to get it fully opaque.

If you're in the market for good affordable metallic liquid lipsticks Roman Bronze and Roman Copper are definitely worth checking out!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer | £4.19

Collection have recently brought out colour correcting shades of their greatly loved concealer. I got the shade Yellow, which is ideal for dark circles. To be honest though I'm not the greatest fan of the collection concealer, I just find it a tad too drying, especially under the eyes. And unfortunatly this Yellow shade was just as drying. Although it did cover my dark circles really well! If you're a fan of the regular concealers I'm sure you will love the corrector shades!

Garnier Skin Active Honey Gel Wash* | £3.49

I don't tend to have much luck with Garnier skincare but when I heard that the Skin Active range was made from 96% natural ingredients I was intrigued. It also contains Honey which is one of my favourite skincare ingredients. This cleanser has a light gel like consistency that turns milky when mixed with water. I really like this as a second cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and nourished without being stripping. It's worth noting that this is heavily perfumed. Which hasn't given me any negative reactions, it does smell amazing but it's just something to bare in mind.

Garnier Nourishing Skin Honey Cleanser* | £3.49

This cleansing milk is also from the same line as the Gel Wash so it contains the same amount of natural ingredients. It's a nice light milk that removes makeup and cleanses the skin well. This isn't as scented as the Gel Wash but it's still scented so I haven't used this around my eyes. It's a really nice non stripping cleanser.

Garnier Skin Active Honey Moisturiser* | £5.99

Alongside the cleansers I have the Moisturiser from the range. To be honest I can't remember the last time I used such an affordable moisturiser! But I'm pleased to say I actually really like this. It's aimed at dry / dehydrated skin but it isn't thick or heavy on the skin. It absorbs really quick and instantly revives my dry skin, leaving it smooth, supple and hydrated! It works well as part as my evening skincare routine and works well under makeup. I'm really surprised by this moisturiser! It's definitely worth a look!

So that's it for this months drugstore discoveries.

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
