Ben Nye Banana Powder - Worth The Hype?

This is the famous powder that Kim Kardashion supposedly uses so I'm sure you can imagine there was some hype around this powder. I think the hype has slowly dyed down a little but I still really wanted to try it. After reading a few good reviews I decided I needed it. But is it worth the hype...

Ordering and Delivery...

I believe this powder isn't readily available in the UK. There are only a few stores that stock it but I'm pretty sure you can't get this in any shops. I ordered mine from Precious About Makeup. The delivery was very quick considering it was Royal Mail and very reasonably priced to.

Cost...

This powder is available in various different sizes so the price depends on that. I went for the Doomed Jar Pot which was £10.80 (on offer) and you get 26 grams of product. Which I actually think is a really good price.

The Packaging...

The Doomed Jar packaging is new which is actually one of the factors as to why I brought it. It used to come in a bottle and you had to shake the powder out of it. Similar to the RCMA No Colour Powder. I love that powder but hate the packaging. This packaging is far more practical and functional! There's nothing not to like really.

The Products...

But it's what's inside that counts. The powder itself is a loose Yellow powder that is designed to set makeup and brighten areas of the face. So this sounds sounds like it would makeup a good under eye setting powder. I've tried a few Yellow powders and some just don't really brighten so I really had high hopes for this. Unfortunatly I don't love this. First of all it is super Yellow! It really has a Yellow tone where you apply this. Which for my NC35 skintone wasn't great. It's the most Yellow powder I've every come across. I see why people with darker skintones would really like this. But if you're very pale I imagine you would struggle to make this work.

In terms of setting this worked really well. A little too well, in fact. I actually found this really drying, especially under my eyes. As soon as I apply a light dusting to my eyes it feels dry, tight and wrinkled. Throughout the day it even started to crack and just didn't look great.

Is It Worth The Hype...

For me this isn't worth the hype. It's too Yellow for my skin and too drying. That being said I can see why people love it but for me it just didn't work.

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
