The Gloss Edit

I've always preffered a matte lip. But recently I've found myself reaching for glosses more and more! The low maintenance and look of them has been far more appealing to me this summer than ever before. So here I am with a little round up of some of my favourite glosses...

NYX Butter Glosses | £5

Since NYX have come to Boots I've quickly become obsessed. And these Lip Butters are what started it. They are one of the best gloss formulas I've tried. They have a wide selection of shades which I probably have a few too many of. But my favourite shades are: Madeleine which is a Brown nude and Tiramisu which is more a Pinky nude. These are actually more pigmented than you'd expect from a typical gloss. They are so buttery as the name suggests and not sticky. Plus they are really inexpensive!

NYX Intense Butter Gloss | £5.50

Because I love the butter glosses so much I wanted to try the Intense Butter Glosses. Which are exactly the same but more pigmented. I have the shade Chocolate Crepe which is a Brown colour. It applies opaquely and leaves the lip looking full and plump. It lasts surprisingly well for gloss. It fades evenly and doesn't smudge anywhere.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick | £23

Now this isn't a typical gloss but it's from the KISSING Line which has a sheen to it. The shade Bitch Perfect is a lovely Peachy nude. The formula is creamy and comfortable! It's also the perfect summer colour. And the packaging is simply stunning!

MAC Lipstick | £15.50

Another lipstick that isn't a regular gloss is Hot Tahitia which has a glaze finish. The shade is a Rose-y Pink colour. This gives me some colour without being to over the top. The formula is so creamy and comfortable!

Lancome Juicy Shaker | £18*

I thought these were initially a bit gimmicky but the product is really good! The gloss is so silky and feels lovely on the lips. The strange big applicator scared me a bit as well but it's actually really easy to apply with and feels lovely on the lips. My favourite shade is Cherry Sympathy which is an Orange toned Red. The colour is so sheer, it just gives a lovely, subtle wash of colour with an amazing glossy finish. The consistency is also really thin and doesn't feel thick or sticky at all.

Clarins Lip Oil | £18

I've also been really enjoying this Clarins Lip Oil. It feel so luxurious on the lips. The formula is quite thick but it's so silky and feels great on. It gives the lips a really glossy finish - which I love. I have the shade Honey which is clear. This also has nourishing ingredients, although I'm yet to notice this.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick | £15

This again isn't overly a gloss. But has a subtle sheen to it. I'm so impressed with everything I've tried from the newly reformulated Vice Lipstick line. The shade Naked is a Pinky nude from the cream line. Which is exactly that - creamy! So creamy, it applies so nicely and feels so comfortable on.

Maybelline Colour Elixir | £6.99

This is an old favourite of mine. The shade Caramel Infused is the perfect Pinky Brown nude. It also has great pigmentation. And lasts pretty well. This is the perfect throw on and go shade, it goes with pretty much any makeup look!

So thats a few of my current favourite glosses. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
