Last week we had the Drugstore Started (or just amazing drugstore products) so this week I thought I'd follow up with a high-end version. I've said many times before i am drugstore girl heart but i do enjoy highend products and there are few that i couldn't live without! So without firther ado...
Base:
Becca Back Light Primer Filter | £32 | POST
This is, without a doubt, my holy grail primer. It's a glow-y primer that has an iridescent sheen to it when it is first dispensed from the bottle but when it blends into the skin, it leaves the most radiant lit from within glows, without any glitter. It also really smooths over the skin and leaves the perfect base for makeup. If you have dry / dehydrated skin this primer is just perfect!
NARS Sheer Glow | £31 | POST
Now don't let the name foul you this isn't sheer or overly glow-y. It actually has a solid medium coverage thats build-able. The finish isn't too glow-y but still gives a healthy radiance to the skin. The staying power is amazing, it lasts all day on me and still looks pretty much flawless when I come to remove it. If your just starting to dabble in high-end makeup this would be a great place to start. NARS also have a pretty good shade range. I've also heard many people with different skin types rave about this, so it's pretty good for everyone.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | £17.50 | POST
For anyone just starting out in makeup or just looking for a good concealer Urban Decay is the place to look. Their Naked Skin Concealer is easily one of the best the high-end shelves have to offer. It has a light, creamy formula that blends out easily. The coverage is a good medium but buildable coverage. This also works really well on blemishes and under the eyes. This is a great all round concealer.
Hourglass Ambient Light Palette | £59 | POST
For powders I can't recommend these enough. I really struggle to find a powder that doesn't dry my skin out or look cakey. And nothing matches up to these! The palette comes with 3 powders, all to give the skin a candle light glow. I like to use a combination of all 3; the Bronze shade to warm up the face, the lightest shade as highlighter and the medium shade all over the face. See my full review with swatches here.
Urban Decay Beached Bronzer | £20 | POST
This is actually the only high end bronzer I own and I don't have any plans to rush out to get another one, this one is perfect! It's matte, is super creamy and easy to blend. It applies smoothly and lasts all day. The shade Bronzed is more on the warm side so it gives a really nice, sun kissed glow to the skin.
MAC Mineralised Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle | £25 | POST
This is a cult classic and for good reason. It's a beautiful Champagne toned highlighter that gives a really nice radiant glow to the cheek bones, without being too over the top. It's buttery soft, well pigmented and applies with ease.
Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes | £17 | POST
I've fallen head over heals for this blush in the shade Peach pop. The shade is a really versatile Peach colour with a very subtle sheen to it. It's well pigmented but not too pigmented it's easy to go over board with. It blends out easily and melts into the skin and leaves behind a lovely healthy looking finish, that lasts all day.
Eyes
I haven't included a mascara because I rarely buy high end mascaras. Nothing has come close to my greatly loved, Lash Sensational Mascara. Read about that here.
Lancome Gandoise Liquid Liner* | £23 | POST
This liquid liner is amazing for anyone starting out in makeup or those just looking for a good liner. The tip of the applicator is small and fine, it makes drawing a wing or lining the lash line so easy! The formula of the liner itself is also really easy to work with, it's not sticky or gloopy at all. It also stays Black all day and doesn't flake or smudge!
Some how this palette escaped the picture! I know the obvious choice here would be the original Naked Palette but I really feel like there are far better quality shadows out there and that are far cheaper. So I would recommend the Stila Palette. This is crazily under rated. The shadows are so incredibly soft, blend out well and have amazing pigmentation. It includes a good range of mattes and shimmers.
This has really revolutionised my brow routine! I put off buying this for so long because I thought it would be difficult to use. But it's actually really easy, I like to use an angled liner brush. The finish it gives is amazing; it leaves me with full defined, yet natural looking brows. It also doesn't smudge, budge or fade throughout the day. I highly recommend this to anyone!
Lips
MAC Lipstick | £15.50 | POST
This wouldn't be high-end starter kit without a MAC Lipstick, surely? So I tried to pick a great universal shade that would suit most skin tones. And I think MACs Mehr would be perfect. It's a lovely dusky Mauve Pink colour. I've heard so many people with different skin tones rave about this shade. It really is a great wearable everyday shade. It's from the Matte line, but it's super creamy and comfortable whilst still being matte.
Clinique Chubby Stick | £17.50
For those who aren't used to colour or something more natural the Clinique Chubby Sticks are perfect. They have a nice light formula that's moisturising and comfortable. My favourite shade is a Whole Lotta Honey which is a Brown toned nude - perfect for everyday wear!
So there's a little round of some high-end products that are great for beginners or just amazing products if you're not!
Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
Until next time...
