It's that time again where I share my recent drugstore discoveries. Throughout September though I've really tried to only buy thing I actually want from the drugstore rather than buy whatever because it's cheap. And because of that I actually really like most things I picked up. So here we go...
Sleek Cleopatra Kiss Highlighter palette | £9.99
I think there was a good week where my whole Instagram feed was filled with pictures of this gorgeous palette. And I love the Solstice one so much I could resist picking this up. I'm so glad I did. This little palette contains 4 highlighters, housed in a stunning Gold case. It has 2 cream formulas and 2 powder formulas. The powder ones are really nice. The shade Spinx is a Bronze colour that gives a really nice reflective sheen to the skin. It doesn't have any glittery or chunkyness about it. Just a really nice sheen. The second powder formula Goddess looks Gold and Mauvey but translates to a pale Gold colour, this has a bit of fine glitter in it, nothing too bad or noticeable on the cheeks though. The two cream formulas are very simialr to the powder ones. Delta is a Bronze colour like Spinx. And Dynasty is more Gold in the pan, but it blends out to the same colour as Goddess. The formula of the creams ones is really nice, creamy, easy to blend and long lasting. Overall, a really nice palette.
Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation | £12.99
I think I used this a few years back but I wanted to give it another go as I'd heard good things. I haven't found a Max Factor base products I really like so I tend to over look the brand but I'm pleasantly surprised by this. First of all I love the convenience of a compact - you just have to dip your brush in and blend. It's so creamy, light and easy to blend. The coverage is a medium but build-able. I love the finish of this! It's kind of glow-y but not too glow-y and it sits on the skin beautifully. It doesn't sink into my pores or exaggerate any areas I don't want it too. It also wears really well all day on me! My only issue is the shade. I have the shade Golden 075 which is the second from darkest shade I believe, I'm really not that dark in tone so it's not promising for anybody who is. But the under tone isn't quite right for me. It's a bit to Beige-y for me. But that aside I really like this!
Collection Primed and Ready Illuminating Powder Setting Powder | £3.99
I'm also on the hunt for a good powder, with my dehydrated skin it can be a tricky task. So whenever I hear the words illumining and powder together I'm all over it. And with this coming in at under £5 it had to be mine. I'm so impressed with this! It works really well at setting everything and making my skin matte but there isn't any flatness about it. It's really amazing how it does it, I've not come across a powder like this before. My trusty Hourglass powders set everything but they definitely add more glow to the skin. And other powders just look matte and dull on my skin. It doesn't look powdery on the skin either and blurs imperfections. I didn't find this drying on my skin at all either. I love this! I highly recommend it!
NYX Vivid Bright Liquid Liner | £5.50
I know what you're thinking - bright Blue eye liner probably isn't something most people would wear. But this is actually surprisingly wearable. In the swatch it does look really bright but the shade Sapphire against my dark Brown eyes it actually looks quite nice. And adds something different to a makeup look. I like to just create a wing with it. The formula is really easy to work with and the brush is really precise. And it's so pigmented! Another winner from NYX.
L'Oreal Gold Lipstick | £6.99
I'm all on board with the metallic lip trend at the moment so when I saw these lipsticks from L'oreal I had to give it try. I went for the shade nude Gold. Which is a Pink nude colour with Gold shimmers running through it. The shimmer is really subtle though, it's not very noticeable. When it's on the lips it just shines a Gold colour in same light. I do like this but I would prefer it if it was more noticeable, to me it just seems like a shiny nude lipstick. The formula itself is nice though, it's really creamy and comfortable. I'd say it has a creamy finish. This would be perfect for those who are scared of a full on metallic lip though.
NYX HD Blush | £5.50
The formula of the HD Blush line is far better than the baked one. These ones are really pigmented, easy to blend, finely milled and long lasting. I went for the shade Intuition. Which looks completely different in the pan to how it swatches. It looks like a mid tone Rose colour, which I don't actually own a blush like this. But swatched it is more of a Rose Gold colour, similar to the Sleek Rose Gold blush. Which was annoying. But none the less it's still really nice and I've been using it a lot!
So that's everything I've discovered from the drugstore recently!
Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
Until next time...
