High-end Foundations | The Good, the Bad & The Ugly Part 2

You guys seemed to love High-end Foundations | The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Part 1 so I thought I'd do a part 2. In fact you guys love this Good, the Bad and the Ugly series so much I've made it a label, so new readers can take a little look through the previous ones! Anyway, let's get into the foundations...

The Good (the really good)...

This has earned a good cult status. So many love it and for good reason. It's the perfect mix of matte and glow at the same time; it's not too matte nor too glow-y. It also has a solid medium coverage, as well as amazing staying power. The formula is light, creamy and easy to blend. I've also heard people with all different skin types raving about this foundation. For reference I have dehydrated skin. The good coverage and a subtle glow makes this perfect for Autumn/ winter too.

I tend to find I'm not a huge fan of MAC Foundations. Aside from their huge range of shades most don't do well on my skin. But not this! It's brilliant. It's easily one of the most dewy foundations I own. And I own a fair few. It's so light and blendable. I'd say the coverage is medium but more on the light side. Granted I can imagine that most won't like this because it is so dewy, it looks almost wet on the skin. But once it's been set with a powder it leaves a nice radiant glow. As for the wear time it's probably not the best I've tried but I can forgive it because I love the finish so much!

I've always wanted to try the original Double Wear but from looking at it in store, it just looks too thick and heavy for liking. So I opted for the lighter version instead. And this is so good! It says the coverage is light but I'd say its more medium and easily buildable. The finish is matte, but not too matte. This isn't too drying or cakey for my dehydrated skin. And the staying power is incredible! This literally does not budge or wear at all on me! This is a great, lighter alternative to the original double wear.

The Bad (the ok but not for me)...

When I first tried this I did really like it. It says it offers coverage without masking the natural glow and contours of the face. And while this does do this, with an easy to blend formula, since trying many different foundation formulas, this just isn't my favourite and I don't find myself reaching for it.

The Ugly (the really bad)...

Well this, quite frankly was a waste of money. I found the formula difficult to work, it's kind of gel like and thick. And it sat so horribly on my skin. The finish is one that I'd normally like, glow-y but not too glow-y. But because it sat so badly on my skin I don't like it.

This offering from Stila comes with a nifty concealer in the lid so your kind of getting more for your money. Well, I would be if I liked it. The foundation itself is full coverage and promises to last all day. Which it does. Like, the YSL foundation I think this was ok at first. But now I really don't like it. It's so thick. It comes with a spatula like applicator. Which I've pictured above, and I'm tipping it downwards and the foundation just does not move! Surprisingly though, it's easy to blend, but it's too thick and looks cakey on me!

So there you have some high-end foundations, I love and hate. Please, remember that because something didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. This is just my experience with the products.

Have you tired any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
