Sheet masks are the Korean beauty staple that have really caused a stir in the beauty industry. With brands around the world now cottoning on to the trend and developing there own. My local Boots even has a few shelves dedicated to them! If you're new to sheet masks they are basically cotton or tissue saturated in skin loving ingredients, that you place over your face and leave on for around 15-20 minutes. They have the eyes, nose and mouth cut outs. Warning: if you've not used to them before they do look pretty scary! But what's looking scary for 20minutes when you could look amazing after!
I've been working on this post for what feels like forever! But I've been testing a few and I'm ready to report back to you guys. For reference I have dehydrated skin that is prone to breakouts.
Tony Moly Sheet Mask | £11.95 for 10
I feel like these are the most famous of the bunch. These are pretty pricy on Cult Beauty, they're about £5 for one. But I picked up a pack of 10 for around £10 on Amazon (lined above). Tony Moly has a range of masks for almost all types of skin problems. Each mask I have tried has been heavily saturated with product. The sheet itself is quite thin and they really don't fit my face very well. The eyes are too close together and the mouth cut out is too low. But in the pursuit of good skin I've been really enjoying them. The masks are:
Lemon Brighting mask (not pictured) - I actually used this before I had a chance to picture it (blogging problems) But I've been jotting down my thoughts on them so I didn't forget! This mask targets dull skin to reduce congestion and brighten the skin. It contains Lemon extracts which are well know for their brightening abilities. I left this on for as long as I could (around 15 mins) to be honest the poor fit meant I kept getting product in my eye and they make me feel a bit claustrophobic. Then I massage the remaining residue in. My skin did feel more nourished and smoother. But it was the next day I really noticed the difference. My skin was so much brighter, more glowing and so smooth. This is one of my favourites of the bunch and I will definitely be repurchasing, despite the bad fit!
Key ingredients: Glycerine, Lemon Extract, Fruit Extracts
Avocado Nourishing Mask - This mask is aimed at nourishing the skin and also contains vitamin C for added brightening. This mask again, was heavily saturated. I left this on for the recommend time and massaged in the remaining residue. This left my skin feeling really soft, hydrated and nourished.
Key Ingredients: Glycerine, Mineral Oil, Avocado extract, Folic acid
Tea Tree Soothing - This Tea Tree one is aimed at Red, angry complexions to help soothe and restore a natural balance to the skin. It is packed with natural Green leaf extract to help soothe the skin. On the evening I used this I had really big, Red angry spots, so it was a good test to see what the mask could do. This was instantly cooling on the skin. I left it on as long as possible so it could have maximum effect. After I removed it my skin felt nice, soft and nourished. But I didn't notice any massive improvement to my, Red angry spots. But the next morning they had almost gone! And the redness looked so much better. I was really impressed. Another mask I'll be sure to repurchase!
Key Ingredients: Glycerine, Tea Tree, Leaf extracts
Tomato Radiance mask - The Tomato Radiance mask is infused with Tomato to help boost radiance and restore moisture levels. This sounded like a miracle worker for my dehydrated skin! But sadly I was a bit disappointed. This did leave my skin feeling moisturised and softer, but it didn't help my skin to look more radiant. This is still a nice mask, just the effect wasn't as dramatic as the others.
Key ingredients: Glycerine, Tomato extract, fruit extracts.
Makgeoli Skin Purifying - This offering is packed full of ingredients to help clear the skin, decongest it, hydrate and restore radiance. This mask was nice, I left it on for the recommend time and my skin was noticeably softer and smoother. I didn't think my skin looked any brighter or less congested, but it's still a nice mask.
Key ingredients: Glycerine, Mineral oil, Rice ferment extract, Fruit extracts
Beauty Pro Sheet Masks* | £3.50
I'd not really heard of Beauty Pro until these dropped through my letter box so I was really excited to try them. The first thing I noticed was how soft the sheet itself was, a lot softer than the Tony Moly ones! They also fitted my face a lot better, the eye holes and mouth cut out were in the right place. Again both were heavily saturated and stick to the face well! The masks are:
Rejuvenating Sheet mask - this is packed full of collagen and vitamins to improve clarity, tone and elasticity. I left this on for the recommended time and after my skin felt so soft and hydrated! My fine lines looked more plump and my skin just looked a lot better. Another mask I will certainly be rebuying.
Key Ingredients: Marine Collagen, Green tea extract, Seaweed extract, Witch Hazel, Pomegranate
Eye Therapy Under Eye masks (pack of 3) - these are little sheet masks for your under eyes. I have super bad dark circles so these were welcomed additions. These aren't quite like a sheet mask though. It's a hydrogel patch that is stuck on, the backs are self adhesive. These aren't saturated like sheet masks either, they are kind of like gel patches. But they are infused with Collagen and Vitamins to fight the signs of ageing and reduce eye bags. These weren't as cooling as I expected but I stuck them on and waited the recommend time. And my dark circles look was better! I looked like I'd had a good nights sleep! In the morning though I did notice an under the skin spot that felt sore. This quickly went away though.
Key Ingredients: Marine Collagen, Aloe Vera, Fruit extract, Vitamins A & C
Indeed labs Hydraluron Sheet Masks | £19.99 for 4
I've talked about these several times and I've repurchased them! These again, are sheets, heavily saturated in Hydraluranic acid and other hydrating ingredients to give skin an instant shot of hydration. Like the Tony Moly Mask these don't fit my face well. But I can forgive it. After removing it after the recommended 20 minutes the results are amazing! They really leave my skin softer, plumper and hydrated! They also give skin a glow.
Key ingredients: Glycol, Hydraluronic acid, Caster oil
So there's a little round up of some sheet masks. As a whole, I can't recommend sheet masks enough, the results I have seen from most of the ones I have tried have been brilliant!
Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
Until next time...
