The Alternative Winter Lip

I do love a Berry lip, who doesn't? But so far this season I've switched them out for something more Brown toned and vampy. I think it adds a different twist on the classic Berry tones, but still gives a nod to the season. So today I wanted to share them with you...

Zoeva Matte Lipstick | £9 | POST

This has quickly become one of my favourite shades. The Out Standing is a rich Chocolate Brown colour, that really looks stunning on the lips. The formula of this is incredible - creamy, matte, non drying and so long lasting. The colour wears evenly when the colour does start to break down. I also really like the unique square shape of the lipstick itself, it makes it so easy to get a crisp line round the lips. This colour is perfect for the season.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme | £5.50

I think the shade Copenhagen has quickly become a classic shade. This probably is the most 'Berry toned' of the bunch, but it's more vampy than most. It has a rich deep colour that leans sightly more Purple on me. This is a soft matte cream, which has a mousse like consistency, which is easy to apply and dries down matte. It's really easy to apply and doesn't feather or migrate around the lips. It lasts a good 4+ hours on me too. This is a staple winter colour!

MAC Matte Lipstick | £15.50

Whirl is a medium Brown colour with warm, Rosy undertones. This is quite a bold colour on me which I really like. This is the perfect bold but not too bold kind of shade. I've read that this leans different colours on some people, but on me it's a bold, muted Brown. The formula is matte, but it isn't drying and so creamy, pigmented and applies evenly. This is a perfect winter lip shade for those who are afraid of an overly bold lip.

NYX Lip Lingerie | £6.50 | POST

I really rate the Lip Lingerie line, I know some people say they are too drying but for me the aren't. My favourite winter shade is Exotic, which is a warm Red colour. It's not a true Red it's slightly more rusty so it's slightly more muted than your average Red. The formula means it's also really long wearing which makes it perfect for festive parties.

I Heart Makeup Molten Chocolate Liquid Lipstick | £3

This is a classic liquid lipstick so it isn't matte and doesn't dry matte. This one in particular has quite a glossy finish, but with the super cold weather sometimes my lips need something that isn't matte or going to dry them out! The Chocolate Fondue is a rich Chocolate Brown that looks stunning on. This is a really bold shade on me but it's something really different, which I love. This isn't the most long wearing lipstick but it's easy to apply and touch in. For £3 I really rate this!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick | £16

The shade Androgyny isn't overly vampy or Brown but it's a stunning, muted Purple, Mauve colour that I've been reaching for a lot so I just had to include it. Again this is bold, but not a too bold kind of a shade. The formula of these has to be one of the best liquid lipstick formulas I've tried. It's very liquid-y as apposed to a mousse or cream, but the unique doe foot applicator makes it easy to outline the lips. It's so pigmented and the colour fully covers the lips in one coat. This does down matte pretty quick and once it has it's barely noticeable on the lips. As for staying power that pretty much lasts 6+ hours on me! I just can't get enough of this!

So there's some alternative winter lip shades.
