My Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick Collection

I have a serious love hate relationship with these Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. The formula is spot on, easily the best liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. But I can't say Jeffree himself is my cup of tea. I'm not going to go into details about the controversy surrounding him, I'm sure most of you are aware of it. But curiosity got the better of me, I tried one and an obsession was born...

Liquid Lipsticks are a formula that I think is difficult to get right. Out of most I've tried there is always something that could use tweeking. But everything about these liquid lipsticks is perfect! The formula is definitely a liquid rather than a cream or mousse. The applicator is perfect for applying and getting a crisp line around the lips. They are really matte and dry down really quick. The staying power is brilliant too, although I have noticed that this does vary from shade to shade. But I'll address that later. These aren't overly drying either, in fact with a good lip balm I don't even notice these on my lips! Although, I do think if you have dry lips these probably will be drying. As with all Liquid lipsticks good prep is important. Always scrub any flakes off the lips and apply balm to help it look its best. But over all these are, in terms of everything, the best liquid lipsticks I've tried. So today I thought I'd share with you the shades I currently have...

Androgyny:

This is the shade that started the obsession. It's a dusty Mauve Purple colour. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but as soon as I applied it, it was love at first site. It's fully opaque in one swipe and lasts for a good 5-6 hours before the colour starts to break down. This is actually one of my favourite shades.

Sagittarius:

Sagittarius is a slightly paler, cooler version of Angrogyny. I did find this to be a little sheerer than the others, in terms of pigmentation, but not sheer enough to pose a problem. This is probably my least favourite of the bunch just because I think the shade is too cool for my colouring.

Celebrity Skin:

This is a pale Pink toned Brown, nude colour. It's really pigmented and covers my lips in one swipe. The shade is a great everyday nude. I don't find this overly drying.

Mannequin:

This is very similar to Celebrity Skin only slightly darker. The formula is the same too.

Pumpkin Pie:

Pumpkin Pie is from the 2016 Holiday Collection. When I saw the shades before they were released, this was the one shade I really wanted! It's a warm, burnt Orange colour. I lack this kind of shade in my collection so this was a welcomed edition. It also has subtle shimmers in it, this doesn't really translate on the lips though. The formula is opaque, comfortable and long wearing.

Designer Blood:

Another shade from the Holiday Collection. This is a rich, rusty Red, which I wore through most of the festive season! This is the perfect bold lip. It doesn't transfer or budge. So it would be perfect for a night out.

Gemini:

I wanted this shade for so long but it always seems to be out of stock and I see why. It's a stunning warm, Red toned Brown. This is 'my kinda' favourite nude. It goes with most makeup looks and it's perfect for everyday wear.

Masochist:

I brought this for the Lovely Dagmara over at Mummy's beauty corner as part of her secret santa gift and I couldn't resist getting one for myself. The shade is definitely out of my comfort zone, it's a bright Raspberry Pink. I also found the formula a little different to the others. The matte-ness and the way it feels on the lips is the same, but I found this moved around a lot. Especially after eating, I even had it on my nose. My friend even thought my nose was bleeding! That being said this isn't the worst liquid lipstick I've tried, it's just not the best of the Velour line.

Leo:

And finally Leo. I mainly brought this because it's my star sign and Brown. It's described as a warm, Terracotta Brown. But there's just something about this shade I don't love on me. It's also quite a bold Brown on me which I normally really like. The formula is the same as the others - long wearing, comfortable, doesn't move and easy to apply.
