A Few Drugstore Discoveries

The past couple of months I haven't been too fussed by drugstore makeup and it was high-end makeup that really excited me. But recently the Drugstore have had some pretty exciting new launches that I was excited to try so I picked up a few things to share with you guys...

Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit | £6

Makeup Revolution have jumped on the Lip Kit hype and brought a much more affordable alternative to the Kylie Lip Kits. I picked two; Noble (a Brown nude) and Reign (an Orange toned Red). I feel like the names are inspired by Kylies lip kits too. Each kit contains a Liquid Lipstick and a Lip Pencil in a complimentary shade. Both the pencils in the kit are brilliant - Super creamy, pigmented, easy to apply and they both match the shades well. The liquid lipsticks themselves are really nice too. They're pigmented and dry down pretty quick. I did notice that they do still remain a little tacky though. But overall, they were comfortable and not drying. They didn't look dry on the lips either. My only issue is that they do flake and bunch up if reapplied throughout the day. But as drugstore liquid lipsticks go, these are ok.

Lottie London Slay All Day Lip Kit | £8.95

Another brand that has cottoned on to the lip craze is Lottie London. These are slightly more expensive than the Makeup Revolution option though. I went for the shade Fleek, which is a really nice, warm toned Brown. The lip pencil that comes with the kit is really good, one of the best I've tried from a drugstore actually. It's so creamy, pigmented and doesn't drag on the lips at all. The liquid lipstick is incredible too. The consistency is slightly mousse like, it reminds me of the NYX Soft Matte Creams. It's not drying at all and so long lasting; it lasted a good 4-5hours on me. It doesn't sit in lines on the lips, or bleed. This has to be one of the best liquid lipsticks the drugstore has to offer!

Lottie London Slay All Day Liquid Lipstick | £5.95

I also picked up a couple of the Lottie London Single Liquid Lipsticks, in the shades Werk It and Queen. Werk It is a Pinky Brown toned nude. And Queen is a bold Green colour. I've been seeing these crazy lip colours all over Instagram so I thought I'd give it try, to be honest it's not a shade I would wear out house. I also found the formula of Queen to be a little sheer in comparison to Werk It, but it was easy to build up without it drying out. Werk It has the shame brilliant formula as the lip kits and it's quickly become one of my favourite shades. I can't recommend the Lottie London Liquid Lipsticks enough!

Lottie London Got It Covered Concealer | £4.95

I don't know why but Lottie London is a brand that really intrigues me so I picked one of their concealers as well. I didn't have high hopes for this though, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is in a squeezy tube with a little foam applicator, that works really well. I brought this in the shade Shell, which was the palest shade for highlighting under my eyes. The shade itself isn't that pale though. The consistency is light, creamy, easy to blend and sits well under my eyes. The coverage is light to medium but build-able. I haven't tried this on spots because the shade is too pale. But this is a nice, cheap under eye concealer.

Rimmel Insta Fix & Go 2in1 Primer and Setting Spray | £6.99

I'm a huge fan of the Rimmel Insta Flawless Primer so I was super excited about this! It's a primer and setting spray in one. I've been using it as both and I really like it! I don't tend to like primer waters but this actually works! The main reason I use primers is to add hydration and stop my foundation from drying out and this did just that! It's packed full of Gylercal, which is great for hydration. As a setting spray I don't think this made my makeup last any longer but it made it look better, more blended and flawless. Very similar to what MAC Fix+ does. It's also one of the best smelling sprays I've come across! I highly recommend checking this out.

L'oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara | £9.99

I thought it was about time I stepped away from my much loved Maybelline Lash Sensational, L'oreal are my favourite brand mascara so I thought this was a safe bet. I'm so happy with it! It has a plastic, comb like wand that catches every lash and applies the mascara evenly. It gives me a really good length and a lot of volume - which I really like! It holds the curl well and doesn't flake or smudge. I'm really happy with it and I've already brought a backup!

So that's everything I've discovered from the drugstore over the last couple of months.

Have you tried any of these? What are you thoughts?

Until next time...
