The Beauty Junkies Guide To saving money

Hi I'm Leanne and I'm addicted to buying new makeup! Yes I would go as far as to say I was addicted to buying makeup. If I read or see a glowing review about a product I convince myself I need it. And new launches I need to try! My mission to find the perfect products is never ending - I've probably actually already found them but I always think there's something better out there. But at the end of the day, I'm not rich and have other priorities I need to pay for. Plus I'm going to New York in November so I need to start saving for that. So I've put to together a few useful tips to save money and curb spending without being to restrictive...

1. Spending Bans Don't work...

For me spending bans just don't work. As soon as I say I'm not spending any money on makeup, a week later I go on massive shop, and spend more than I probably would if I wasn't on a spending ban! So instead I have myself a realistic monthly budget for makeup and beauty. I know this sounds excessive to have a monthly budget dedicated to makeup and beauty products but it works for me.

2. Shop around for the best deals...

This is pretty self explanatory but it's a good way of saving money. I buy most of my highend skincare when it's on offer. BeautyBay tend to have some good deals which makes highend skincare more mid price. Other online stores for great discounts include:

3. Avoid 3 for 2s...

I'm a sucker for Boots and Superdrug's 3for2 deals. If I just want one product I will buy another one to get one free, even if I don't need them. I've lost count the amount of times I've stood at the L'oreal stand trying to pick a nail polish just because it's free - and I don't even really like the formula! So I'm not even saving money!! That being said these deals are handy if there are 3 products in the offer you actually need / want.

4. Make a list of beauty products you actually want...

Making a wish list has helped me loads. This way I see the stuff I really want and I don't just buy stuff for the sake of it. I'm the worst for new launch emails from BeautyBay, I order it straight away but in reality I probably didn't want said product as much as I wanted something else!

5. Use and save points...

Most beauty places have loyalty points that you can earn when you buy something. I like to save these points up for when I have no money and fancy a little treat. This way I get my beauty product fix without actually spending any money!

6. Shop Your Stash...

I love shopping my stash. If you're a beauty junkie like me I guarantee you have a blush or a foundation you've completely forgotten about. So you can find a new, forgotten love without spending a penny.

7. Try Before you buy / research well...

Always try to get a sample before you buy something. This way if you don't like it you haven't lost much. Whereas, if you buy the full size and don't like the product you've wasted loads of money. Most beauty counters are happy to give a sample. If you can't get a sample research the product well; look for swatches and reviews. This is a good way too see if you like the product first and getting the correct shade.

So there's a few ways to save money if you are a beauty junkie like me! I hope you found this helpful!
