Summer Proofng Your Base

The temperature in the UK this post week has been insane with highs of 33 degrees. Plus I'm sure a few of you will be jetting off on holiday. So it's time to dig out those bases that will withstand the high temperatures and not leave you looking half melted come lunchtime. I love a light, glow-y look all year round but these are the hardest to my last in my opinion. But I have found some real gems that work well in the warmer months.

Clinique Pep Start Hydro Blur | £24.50

I tend to lean towards a glowy, hydrating primer but in the summer this can turn sweaty very quickly. So I want one that's hydrating and will make base last. So this one from Clinique is perfect. It's a moisturiser and primer in one. Although I do still moisturise because it's not enough for dehydrated skin on its own. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and makeup glides over the top!

Urban Decay Naked One & Done | £28 (Currently on offer for £16 here)

This was a firm favourite last summer and it's time to put it back into rotation. This is marketed as a hybrid tinted moisturiser, with all the benefits of primer. I do still like to use a primer with it though. It has a lot more coverage than tinted moisturiser or BB cream, it's a good medium. But it's not masking or heavy! It looks very natural with a satin like finish. If your oily you could easily matte this down more with a powder and if you're dry you could make this more glow-y! I think most people would love this. It's definitely one to check out this summer.

L'oreal Pro Glow Foundation | £12.49

I don't think this foundation will be for everyone especially not in the summer but it's great for dry skins out there. The formula is super light and glow-y while still offering good medium coverage. I do need a good powder with this though, but it's perfect for those super glow-y bronzed looks. I find (apart from a shiny t-zone) this is also very long wearing. It's still intact at the end of the day, even in these high temperatures! I brought mine from a trusted Ebay seller here.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer | £28

For a concealer to stand the heat this will do an execellent job! It has extremely full coverage but it doesn't look heavy or cakey! With a light dusting of setting powder this stays in place until I want to remove it! It works well under the eyes and blemishes - it's a great all rounder.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder | £33

To keep everything in place this powder has been my go to. Not only does this extend my makeup wear time it makes my skin look flawless, it really does give an airbrushed effect. I don't find it drying on my skin either. Because the formula is so finely milled this never looks powdery or cakey, no matter how much I put on so it's perfect for touch ups throughout the day.

Becca Mineral Blush | £28

I've recently discovered this but I've been wearing it ever since and the heat has not touched it! Becca just know how to do powders. This finely milled blush in the shade Warm Honey is a gorgeous warm Brown colour. It's a really nice summer colour and lasts all day on cheeks.

Milani Highlighter | £12

I've never really had an issue making a highlighter last and this one is no expection. The shade After glow is a classic champagne colour that looks beautiful on. It's not to glow-y either it's perfect for giving a lumions effect to the skin with looking like tin man.

Cover FX Setting Spray | £9

A good setting spray is another way to ensure your base withstands the heat and I've been obsessed with this one from Cover FX. It's luminous and it does give a luminous effect to the skin without looking wet. It also really helps keep my makeup on for that little bit longer. And the mist on this is the best I've ever tried. It's so fine, you can barely even feel it going on your face. It's just brilliant. There's also a matte option to.

There are the products I'll be using for a summer proof base.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favourite long lasting products?

Until next time...
