Best Beauty Discoveries of the Year So Far

I can't believe we're over half way through the year already! Yesterday I spent the day watching Insta stories of all the Christmas launches - madness. Anyway I thought this would be the perfect time to share my favourites of the year so far. There has been so many launches this year already but I wanted to stick to the things I've been using over and over or that I always come back to.

MAC Prep and Prime Oil | £21.50 | REVIEW

This year I really discovered the magic of primer oils and this is the one that made me fall in love with them. I know oil as a primer sounds scary but if you dry skin you will love it! This one in particular really nourishes the skin and smooth over any dry patches. Leaving my skin super hydrated and plump for the whole day! It also leaves my skin with a really nice dewy finish. I have found that primer oils do tend to be a little pricier but they are well worth it.

Milani Concealer* | £11.99 | REVIEW

I think Milani as a brand is one of my favourites so far. I pretty much love anything they do. And this concealer is no exception. The coverage is so good (medium to full) but the finish is natural but more on the glow-y shade. The consistency is super creamy and easy to blend out. I think this works better under the eye than on blemishes, just because it is slightly dewy. This is actually my 3rd tube of the stuff!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer | £28 | REVIEW

Another concealer that has been one of my favourite discoveries this year is this offering from Tarte. This offers full coverage but looks so natural! The finish is satin and I would like it to be a tiny bit more dewy but the formula is amazing so I can forgive it. It stays looking flawless all day too! I do find this creases a tiny bit on me, but all concealers crease on me but with a setting powder it's fine.

Milani Baked Bronzer | £10.99 | REVIEW

Bronzer in general has become a real favourite of mine this year. I think with bronzer you either love it or hate it. But I really think it's all about finding the right shade for you. And I have found my perfect shade in 05 Solio. It's on the warm side but nothing too Orange and it doesn't have a strong Red under tone it gives my skin the perfect sunkissed look. This also has fine Gold shimmers running through it that give the face a really nice glow but not in a highlighted kind of way. The formula is finely milled, easy to work with and long lasting. There's nothing not to love!

Milani Highlighter* | £12.99 | REVIEW

Milani launched their new highlighters this year and I have managed to get my hands on a couple and I love them! The shade Day Glow is a really lovely Champagne colour and the shade Sun Glow has a slightly Golden hue to it. Both give the skin a really nice natural highlighted look, that's not intense or over the top at all. They're not chunky or glittery, or give any emphasis on any pores or problem areas. They are just perfect.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Powder | £33 | REVIEW

This is one pricey powder! One that I put off buying for a long time and really don't know why because this is brilliant! When Charlotte Tilbury says flawless she isn't messing around. This really perfects the skin reducing pore size and makeup fine lines look even finer! It's so finely milled it never looks cakey or heavy, no matter how much you pack on. I really can't recommend this enough.

ColourPop Topaz | $14 | REVIEW

I've gone ColourPop crazy this year and I've found myself ordering a lot. One of them being this gorgeous duo. This compact houses a generously sized bronzer and highlighter. The highlighter is a true Gold highlighter that I really enjoy. This shade would be perfect for darker skin tones but I can imagine pale skins not liking this. The bronzer is a warm toned bronzer but I found this works for bronzing or contouring on me. Both the formulas are incredibly soft and pigmented, especially the bronzer that does need a light hand.

ColourPop Double Play | $14 | REVIEW

Another ColourPop duo I have loved this year. This one has a more Champagne, Pinky toned highlighter that would suit most skin tones. And a matte blush. The blush is described as a warm toned nude but I would say it's more of a pale Orange shade. It's the perfect summer shade that's not too over the top! I really like it. Both of them are so soft and easy to work with. It's definitely one of my favourite summer palettes.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette | £39.50 | REVIEW

I feel like I bang on about this palette way too much. But I really do love it and if I had to pick one favourite this year, it would be this! The shades inside are all warm tones, with a good mix of matte and shimmers. The shimmers are a bit of a let down but the mattes by far make up for it. They are so creamy, and so blend-able, and last well. When this officially launches definitely give it a swatch.

ELF Made for Matte 2 Palette | £12.50 | REVIEW

On the other end of the price scale I've been loving this palette from ELF. All 10 shades in the palette are matte, and for 'affordable' mattes this are brilliant. They are really pigmented and blend-able. It also contains a good range of shades and a Black, which I think every eyeshadow palette should include!

Milani Setting Spray | £12.99 | REVIEW

Another Milani favourite of the year so far is this setting spray. Which is amazing. I have the illuminating version but I'm not sure it actually makes my base any more illuminated but it really sets my makeup well and makes powders melt into the skin and look really natural. The mist action is also really fine. I just love it!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip | $6 | REVIEW

When I sat down to think of what to include in this post I really struggled for lip products. Lip products are something I change up regularly and rarely stick to one. But one I found myself reaching for is ColourPops Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Echo Park. Which is a warm nude with slight Peachy undertones. The formula of the Ultra Satin Lips are amazing. They're not drying at all and so long lasting.

So there are my makeup favourites of the year so far! I think I will do a separate skincare post because I have discovered so much skincare it needs a whole post.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favourites of the year so far?

Until next time...
