Protecting Skin From The Environment

The enviroment can have a really negative effect on the skin. I'm sure by now we are all aware of the negative effects of the sun and you don't need to be a scientist to work out that pollution isn't good for the skin. I read an interesting fact that 90% of premature ageing is because of the environment and sun damage. I'm not sure how true that is but it made me want to protect my skin for it. I've been doing some research and there are a few products that you probably all ready have in your routine and that will help protect the skin.

Pixi Caroline Hirons Double Cleanser | £24 | REVIEW

Washing away pollutants that may sit on the skin and cause damage is so important. The Double Cleanse is perfect for this. The solid oil cleanser is perfect for cutting through makeup, dirt and debris that may be sitting on the skin. The second cleanser is a light cream that cleanses the skin once all that dirt and makeup has gone. Both cleansers are super gentle and leave the skin super clean without being stripped. Perfect for getting rid of pollution.

Beauty Pie Super Pore Clay Mask* | £5.77 | REVIEW

A deep cleanse in the form of a mask twice a week will also be beneficial to really get into the pores and lift away any dirt from the environment. This one from Beauty Pie is perfect, it gives my skin a super deep cleanse, leaving it feeling so clean and smooth. I like to leave this for around 10 mins or until the mask is set and then remove it with a flannel and warm water. My skin instantly looks brighter and cleaner.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask* | £55 | REVIEW

The environment can also leave the skin look dull and lack luster. To combat that a good AHA mask should do the trick. And this PTR one is amazing. It smells delicious and works in as little as 3 minutes! This is one of the strongest AHA masks I've tried so I don't need to leave it on long. It does tingle on application and you can really feel this working. Once removed my skin is so much softer and more radiant. AHA has a number of long term benefits.

Merumaya Retinol Treatment* | £35.50 | REVIEW

Another way to combat dullness from the environment is with this offering from Merumya. This uses retinol to gently exfoliate the skin overnight. It's a rich cream that absorbs pretty quickly into the skin. Retinol has a range of benefits from combating fine lines to pigmentation issues so this is a great multi tasker.

Image Anti Ageing Sheet Mask* | £9

Anti oxidants are well known for their ability to counter the affects of free radicals that can be caused by the environment and this mask is packed full of them, alongside moisturising ingredients to plump and hydrate the skin. I leave this on for as long as possible (normally around 20 mins) and my skin looks and feels so much more hydrated.

Clarins Blue Lotus Oil* | £33 | REVIEW

Hydration is the key to good skin so it's essential you use a nourishing serum to put back any moisture the environment has taken out. I love this Clarins one. Not only does this hydrate but it really helps any redness issue I have, and has really transformed the overall appearance of my skin.

IS Clinical Extreme SPF* | £58 | REVIEW

And finally you have to protect against factors that the environment may bring! And this starts with an SPF no matter what the weather. I've been loving this option from IS Clinical. It has UVA & UVB protection. It's also super hydrating and absorbs into the skin really quickly without interfering with any other skincare, makeup and it doesn't leave a White cast!

So there's a few protectors I use in my routine to stop the environment cause any problems.

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
