Setting sprays and face mists are really having their moment in the beauty world at the moment! And for good reason, setting sprays are perfect for making makeup look more natural and extending makeup wear time. Face mists are a great multi tasking skincare item that can add instant hydration, refresh makeup and give skin life! I have quite a few in my collection so I thought I'd share them with you guys. There will be a part 2 - mid price and part 3 - high end, so keep your eyes peeled for those. Anyway here are some affordable setting sprays and face mists...
Primark Primer Water | £2
The beauty community went crazy for this primer water, there are rumours that this had been discontinued but I'm not sure if that's true. I managed to get mine in my local store and at £2 I was intrigued to see what all the hype was about. This is marketed as a primer water but it can also be used as a setting spray or face mist. To be honest I'm not quite sure how I feel about primer water, I don't find they do a lot for my skin in terms of priming. They do add hydration but I don't find this particularly smoothing or blurring. As a setting spray this is nice, it melts powders into the skin nicely and gives me a flawless finish. I just don't love this. At £2 though, I think it's worth checking out.
Sukin Hydrating Toner Mist | £7.49
This a new addition to my collection but I love it! It's to be used after cleansing or whenever skin needs a little pick me up! The mist action is really fine and doesn't feel like your shooting water at your face. It's alcohol free and contains soothing Camomile and Rosewater to refresh the skin. I found this works well over makeup. It doesn't move my makeup or leave water drops on the face! Overall, I really like this. It has quickly become One of my favourite face mists and the price just makes it better.
L'oreal Infallible Setting Spray | £8.99
I think this was one of the first affordable setting sprays to hit the UK drugstores. And when it first came out I really loved it! It does extend makeup wear and the mist is nice. It could be a bit finer but not the worst I've ever tried. But these days I just don't find myself reaching for it. I just have others I prefer. I tend to lean towards more hydrating ones because I have dehydrated skin. But this is another worth checking out.
Rimmel Insta Fix & Setting Spray | £6.99
I really like the Insta Fix range from Rimmel, I hate the name though, it sounds a bit gimmicky to me but the products really aren't. This setting spray included! It can also be used as a primer. I love this as a setting and refreshing mist. It has a light Cucumber scent that feels really uplifting. The mist is really fine and it works well over makeup. This actually reminds me a lot of MAC Fix+ in the way it leaves my makeup with a super blended, flawless finish. I really can't recommend this enough.
ColourPop Amethyst Priming Spray | $6
I spoke about this in my ColourPop Haul. But this is a primer aimed at oily skins. I don't have oily skin but as a primer I didn't find this dried my skin out. Like all the primer waters I've tried I don't love this as a primer. It works ok as a setting spray. I don't find it overly extends the wear time of makeup though. If you're in the US you might want to check this out. But I don't think this is worth the shipping and potential customs fees if you live in the UK.
There's a few affordable setting sprays and face mists!
Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
Until next time...
