Autumn is my favourite season, I love how cozy it is. But I don't love Autumn makeup. Everything turns matte, base, lips everything. Which is great but my whole body is so dry and matte products don't do so well on dry skin and lips. So today I have a little edit of my favourite matte formulas that aren't drying.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick | £17
Throughout summer I kind of left liquid lipsticks behind, in favour of a gloss but I've really got back into them and I've fallen back in love with these Kat Von D ones. The formula is so good. They're so matte but without being drying at all. They reapply easily too. I have two shades, Lolita and Lolita II. Lolita is firm favourite among many and for good reason, the shade is gorgeous. It's a really nice dusky Pink, which Mauve undertones. It's actually quite a dark shade that would go well on most skin tones. Lolita II is a beautiful warmed toned Terracotta, perfect for Autumn.
ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip | $6
In terms of price and how long wearing the ultra satin lips are you won't get much better! Granted these aren't completely matte, they have more of satin finish they are so comforable to wear and perfect if you struggle with matte lips. The formula of is super easy to apply and they come in a range of shades. My favourites are Echo park, which is the perfect pink toned nude. But it's slightly deeper than you average pink nude. And 915 which is a brown nude colour that's not too warm nor cool, it's actually such a nice shade for autumn. Plus these are so long wearing!
Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipsticks* | £8.99
These were sent to me by an influencer and I was excited because I love Bourjois lip products and these are no exception. The formula is like nothing I've come across before. They apply like regular lipsticks and have a nice sheen to them, when I first tried them I was a little apprehensive as to how matte these would go because they glide on the lips like a gloss. But they actually dry matte like liquid lipsticks! They have a range of shades available too. My favourites are 01 Hey Nude and 03. Hey Nude looks like a pale, creamy Brown toned nude but it dries down slightly darker. 03 is a really nice Mauvey Pink. Again this dries down slightly darker, I thinks that's something to bare in mind when choosing a shade.
ColourPop Lippie Stix | $5
The ColourPop Lippie Stix are a favourite of mine regardless of the time of year. They come in a range of finishes but the matte line is my favourite. Like the Ultra Satin they have a satin finish rather than a completely matte one but they are so long wearing considering the finish! My favourite for this time of year is Brink which is a really nice Brown toned nude, that's really wearable and not drying at all!
Jeffree Star Ultra Velour Liquid Lipsticks | £16
Love or hate Jefree Star you can't deny he makes a good liquid lipstick. And these formulas are easily one of my favourites. It's super waterery and pigmented. It dries down really matte quickly. But without looking drying or crusty on the lips. The wear time is incredible, it lasts well through eating and drinking really well too. My favourite Autumnal shade is Androgony. Which is dusky Purple colour. It's one of those shades that is more than a nude but not quite a bold lip.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick | £15.50
Urban Decays Vice lipsticks come in a range of different finishes but my favourite is the Comfort Matte line. Which is criminally underrated! These formula is easily one my favourites. They are so creamy, pigmented and so comfortable. My current favourite shade is Back Talk which is a nice Mauve Pink shade.
MAC Matte Lipstick | £15.50
I know the Mac Matte line can a bit inconsistent in formula throughout the shades, but I think in overall the formula is really good. Most of the ones I've tried are super creamy, matte and comfortable. My favourite shade for this time of year is Mehr which is a beautiful Mauve colour.
Maybelline Creamy Matte | £6.99
A brilliant drugstore matte comes from Maybelline. These super creamy matte lipsticks are easily on par with high-end options but for a fraction of the price. Clay Crush is a shade I also find myself reaching for. It's the perfect warm toned nude that's perfect for any season.
MeMeMe Liquid Lipstick | £9.95
Who remembers this brand? I swear years ago they used to available at Superdrug? Anyway the brand is still around and they've recently launched some liquid lipsticks. Some very good Liquid Lipsticks. My favourite is shade 5 which is a really nice creamy nude. This shade won't work for everyone, it's probably more suited to paler people. The formula is non drying and long wearing. There's nothing not to love.
Have you tried any of these? What are your favourite matte formulas?
Until next time...
