Maintainable Autumn / Winter Lip Shades

I love Autumn / Winter lip shades and all the rich tones that come with Autumn. But they are so bloody difficult to wear and maintain. Some shades end up round my face, on my teeth, not to mention the dryness that comes with matte formulas. Most times, especially if I'm busy I can't cope with the upkeep of these kinds of shades. Luckily I've found some stunning rich hues that don't need maintenance like some.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Matte Lipstick | £16 | REVIEW

I really rate the formula of Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks, granted he's not a very nice person but he's nailed the liquid lipstick formula. The shade Leo is perfect for Autumn. It's a warmed toned Brown. It applies completely opaque in just one swipe and dries down completely matte. This isn't drying at all and it doesn't budge when it's in place. When the colour does start to break down it fades evenly and doesn't leave a dark ring around the lips. Making this a perfect low maintenance lip.

Mac Matte Lipstick | £16.50 | REVIEW

Classic Lipsticks are just the easiest to maintain. Mac matte can be a bit hit and miss but if you find a hit they are amazing! So creamy, long wearing, pigmented and comfortable. The shade Whirl in particular is one of my favourites at this time of year. It's not a classic Berry shade, it's a warm Brown colour. On me this is actually quite a bold shade but on darker skin tones it would be a great nude.

Zoeva Liquid Lipstick | £9.75

Zoeva's liquid lipsticks are so under rated! I really like the formula, it's pigmented, non drying and long wearing. The shade Faint of Heart is a Mauvey colour but it's slightly deeper than a regular Mauve toned nude, so again it's bold but not too bold. It wears evenly, gradually without transferring.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick | £24

Another classic lipstick that takes minimal maintenance is this offering from Charlotte Tilbury. The shade Bond Girl is perfect for Autumn and Winter. It's a natural Plum colour that would be flattering on most skin tones. The formula is really creamy and applies to lips with ease. One layer will give a sheer colour and two layers will give a more bold finish. Because this is a classic lipstick it wears off gradually and doesn't look patchy or even. Plus it's super easy to reapply without a mirror.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick | £15 (currently £10.80 here)

It's no secret I'm huge fan of the Urban Decay Vice line. The shade Backstab is more of a classic Berry, Purple shade. It's a cream formula so it's slightly more sheer than a matte option, it also has a slight sheen to it so it's very flattering. The wear time of this isn't the best but that's to be expected from this kind of formula. That being said this is so easy to reapply. It's one of my favourites for the season.

Pixi Matte Luster Lipstick | £14

Pixi Makeup is so under rated compared to their skincare but they have some amazing formulas, this lipstick included. The shade Plum Berry is from the Matte Lustre line. Which is definitely more lustre than a matte. Which I don't mind, my lips get so dry in the winter so I'm grateful for something more hydrating. The shade is beautiful, as the name would suggest it's a Berry shade that's more Pink than Purple. It's so easy to apply and fades evenly.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick | £8.99 (currently £5.35 here)

Lastly I have these affordable lipsticks that easily rival some high end formulas. In fact I've not come across a formula quite like this. I have all the shades for this line and they are all so creamy, they don't drag on the lips at all and they are so pigmented. My two favourite shades for Autumn / Winter are Brunette and Magni-fig. Brunette is a warm mid to dark Brown colour, on my skin tone this is quite a bold shade. Magni-fig is more of a traditional Berry shade that just screams Autumn. What I love about these is how matte they dry down, they go as matte as a liquid lipstick and once they are dry there's no need to worry about the smudging or fading - they stay put. All day! Making them the perfect low maintenance, yet bold lip.

There are my low maintenance Autumn / Winter lip shades.

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
