Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define - Worth the Hype + Shape Tape Comparison

I'm sure all of you would have seen Makeup Revolutions latest launch. And I'm not going to lie if I see another big Youtuber swatch it and say 'I'm shook' I will scream haha! But anyhow this concealer is something to get excited about. I mean it costs just £4 and comes in 18 shades! But is it worth the hype?

Ordering and Delivery...

Makeup Revolution is a pretty accessible brand in the UK, it's stocked in most Superdrugs and is available from Tambeauty.com. It is stocked in some US drugstores too. I have heard horror stories from people who order direct from their website but I've never had an issue and my concealers arrived in just under a week, with free shipping.

Cost...

This concealer is just £4, which is so cheap! You get 3.4ml of product, which is smaller than most concealers, most are around 6-7ml. But for £4 I can't complain.

The Packaging...

The concealer itself is housed in a regular looking concealer tube with a Rose Gold lid. No complaints on the packaging front.

The Product...

Now, I'm not going to lie I do tend to prefer high-end concealers so I didn't have high hopes. Plus this has some pretty bold claims and I'm always dubious of this. It promises to be a light weight concealer, long wearing, full coverage and work well under the eyes and blemishes. It has a doe foot applicator that is slightly larger than regular applicators in most concealers. This does have a super creamy formula that is really easy to blend. The coverage is definitely on the full side. It works really well under the eyes and on blemishes. I do tend to rate concealers on how well they work under the eyes though because this is my biggest problem area. The finish is quite matte but not flat or cakey looking. I do find this settles into the fine lines around my eyes but I can forgive it because the coverage is so good! The wear time though of this is amazing though, it stays looking flawless all day on me.

This comes in 18 shades, which I think is amazing for a brand like Makeup Revolution. Brands of a similar price point tend to have 3-4! I have 3 shades, C2, C3 & C4. C4 is the best match, I probably could have done with a shade or two darker but I like that this is paler because it brightens the under eye area well. This has a natural undertone. C3 is a little lighter than C4 with a Pink under tone. C2 has a Yellow undertone which is best for me but this is actually far too pale for me.

Is it worth the Hype...

So taking everything into account I think this is 100% worth the hype and all the 'I'm shook' descriptions! For just £4 this is amazing! It actually rivals some high-end ones. Since I got this I haven't stopped using it. I definitely recommend checking this out.

Shape Tape Comparison...

The Conceal and Define has also been said to be similar to the famous Tarte Shape which has holy grail status for many. The Shape Tape isn't the cheapest concealer and from a UK stockist (QVC) this will set you back £27 because you can only buy it with a sponge, which is super annoying! But the concealer is amazing - full coverage, long lasting and looks so natural. My only issue with the Shade Tape is not as brightening under the eyes as I would like.

The MUR Conceal and Define has a similar applicator in the sense that they are both quite large. The MUR one isn't as large but still big in comparison to regular concealer wands.

In terms of formula these are very similar! The MUR one is ever so slightly thicker and doesn't blend out as easily. But it's still easy to blend out. I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't been using them side by side. The finish of Shape Tape is also more satin and looks just a tiny bit more seamless on the skin. In terms of coverage I'd say they were both the same! In Shape Tape I have the shade Light Medium which is a good match for my skin tone but not so great for highlighting under my eyes.

I have to say I think I prefer the Makeup Revolution a tiny bit more than Shape Tape! The price is a huge factor and I'd much rather save the pennies. I like it more because it brightens my under eyes better too. I probably get the same effect from Shape Tape if I brought a lighter shade but it's £27!

Overall, I'm obsessed with the Makeup Revolution Concealer and Define. It has everything I want from a concealer and the price point is spot on!

Have you tried the MUR concealer? What are your thoughts?

Until next time...
