YSL All Hours Foundation - Worth the Hype?

I'm not actually sure if this foundation is hyped up but I've seen it on a few Youtube videos and it has some bold claims! So I gave in and brought it so here am I ready to review it for you.

Ordering and Delivery...

YSL is pretty readily available in the UK. Most online retailers stock it and most big department stores have a stand so there shouldn't be too much of an issue getting your hands on it. I ordered mine from Feel Unique. There were a few shades out of stock though. I've never had any problems ordering from them and they have resolved any customer service issues I've had quickly.

This is £33 for 25ml which is expensive but YSL are a 'luxury' brand, so you would expect to pay a bit more. Plus if foundations are good I think they are worth paying a bit extra for. The key word being IF!

The Packaging..

The foundation comes housed in a weighty, frosted glass bottle, complete with a pump. The packaging does feel luxurious and looks really nice. I'm not sure how practical the glass bottle is for travelling though.

The Product...

YSL claim this a 24 hour wear foundation, that will pretty much withhold anything - sweat, water, transfer resistant. All in a full coverage formula that will remain comfortable throughout the day. It sounds too good to be true! The description also says this has a matte finish. But I actually think this is more satin.

The consistency of the foundation is more on the creamier side, it doesn't drip down the face or anything. It's super easy to blend though. I found it works well with a brush or a sponge / beauty blender. Although I do prefer the finish slightly more with a Beauty Blender, it's just looks a bit more flawless and seamless on the skin. The coverage is definitely more on the full side, although it's not the fullest coverage one I own. It covers most imperfections and hyper pigmentation. What I really love about this is how natural it looks! It's like it meshes with the skin so perfectly. It doesn't sink into pores,  fine lines or exaggerate any problem areas! I like to use it with a glow-y primer so it gives me a bit of radiance and makes my skin look amazing! I wouldn't say that this would wear for 24 hours like it claims. It is long wearing and stays looking good for most of the day but come 5 o'clock it does need touching up. It does remain comfortable all day though. I tend to find some foundations dry my skin out and feel tight but this doesn't at all.

I think there are 21 shades available which is pretty good. I have the shade BD035 Which online looks darker than it actually is. It looks darker when you first pump it out but it blends out a shade or two lighter. Which is strange, I've never come across a foundation that does that before! It does have a good Yellow undertone which is a good match.

Is it worth the hype?

Yes. I love this foundation! The coverage and how natural it looks is everything I want from a foundation. I plan on getting shade matched in store properly, until then it's nothing a bit of bronzer doesn't sort out! Overall, as full coverage, natural looking foundations go this is one of the best I've tried.
