Best Skincare Discoveries of the Year

I made some amazing skincare discoveries this year. It's rare that I actually repurchase something, I'd much rather try something new. But everything here I've repurchased, some even more than once. So it's pretty safe to say these are firm favourites.

Peter Thomas Cloud Cream | £41

Is this a surprise to anyone? I love love love this moisturiser from Peter Thomas Roth. It's so hydrating, but the formula is so light. It absorbs pretty much instantly into my skin without leaving it heavy or greasy. It really plumps out my fine lines and I haven't had any dry patches since I started using this a few months back. I don't find this causes me to break out either, which is something I struggle with. This is pricy but well worth it in my opinion.

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser | £30

I tend to flip between cleansers and rarely to stick to one exclusively. But I've actually only been using this for the past few months. For my AM & PM cleanse. For a cleanser this really has impressive results. It's brightening and I do really think this has helped keep my skin more radiant and glowing. It has a light gel consistency that gets rid of dirt, makeup, buildup and grim with ease. It leaves my skin feeling so clean and smooth but not stripped at all. My skin hasn't had any adverse reactions to this either.

Vichy Mineral 89* | £22

I finally got to try this serum in 2018 which I wanted to try for ages. And it's become a staple in my skincare routine. This is super lightweight, yet powerful serum that uses hyaluronic acid and Vichy's famous thermal spring water to give the skin intense hydration. I'm not really sure how this is so hydrating because I've tried so many similar things before but none of them have quite worked like this. It is so hydrating! I've been using this as the first step in my morning and evening routine. It leaves my skin so soft, smooth and hydrated.

DR Roebucks No Worries Moisturiser* | £30

Another hydrating favourite comes in the form of this Dr Roebucks moisturiser that carried me through summer. It's pretty much a no fuss moisturiser that simply does the job. I love this as part of my morning routine because this works so well under makeup. It doesn't interfere with it at all. It's also super lightweight which is perfect for the summer and warmer months.

Peter Thomas Roth Hydrating Mask | £44

I can see a very strong theme running through all these products - I guess I really struggled with dehydrated skin in 2018. And this mask was one of the products that really helped! It's seriously hydrating! It has a jelly texture that feels super cooling and soothing on the skin. I like to leave this on for around 20 minutes. After removing my skin feels so supple and a lot more hydrated!

Some honourable mentions:

The Ordinary AHA Mask | £6.25

I featured this in last years favourites so this isn't a discovery this year but I still love it and it's still a staple in my routine. I won't go into to much detail but this is one the best brightening, glow enhancing masks I've ever used. It uses AHA to exfoliate dead skin cells to reveal new, healthier looking skin. This is an intense AHA treatment so I don't think this would be great for super sensitive skin. But everyone else, I really can't recommend it enough!

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors | £5

Another product I wanted to mention was the moisturiser. While, it's not my favourite and I do have others I prefer, I think this is amazing for the price. It has quite a strange texture, it's kind of bitty, but it melts into the skin. It is also really hydrating and does a brilliant job at keeping my skin hydrated all day. If you are on a tight budget this is definitely one to check out.

So there's my best skincare discoveries of the year so far.

Have you tried any of these? What were your favourites?

Until next time...
