The First Makeup Lately 2019! Happy New Year guys. If you’re new here these posts are basically the makeup that I’ve been reaching for over and over throughout the previous month. So let’s jump in.

Nyx Illuminating Primer | £8

I always seem to come back to this primer, it’s brilliant and quite affordable. This is an illuminating primer and it does look like a highlighter when applied to the skin, but when foundation is applied over the top it gives the skin the illusion of a lovely, lit from within glow. It also kind of sets on the skin leaving it really smooth. It makes an excellent base for makeup.

Maybelline Superstar Foundation | £9.99

The foundation I’ve been reaching for is this offering from Maybelline. This is a full coverage, long wearing foundation, with a satin to matte finish. It pretty much covers all my problem areas but still looks natural on the skin. The formula is really easy to blend too. Maybelline claim this wears for 24 hours, I don’t know about that but this does stay flawless all day on me. It’s a brilliant drugstore gem.

Jouer Concealer | £16

I’m all about the full coverage life so this concealer has been a firm favourite throughout December – the coverage is insanely good! The formula is so light and so easy to blend in. I’ve been using this under my eyes, to cover my dark circles and it sits really well in the eye area. It doesn’t crease, crack or fade. Nor is it to drying for that area. It’s actually really similar to Tarte Shape Tape, only cheaper and easier to get in the UK.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder | £56

These powders are hands down my favourite powders ever! And it’s rare that I go a day or two without using them. I have dehydrated skin so I tend to find most powders too drying. But these aren’t at all. They set my makeup down and give my skin the most gorgeous luminous glow.

L’oreal Illuminating Drops | £9.99

The liquid highlighting drops have been in permanent rotation throughout December. I like to apply them after foundation but before powder. They give the high points of the face the most ‘natural but there’ highlighted look. I have the shade champagne which is a really pretty Champagne colour. I like to apply a few drops in the areas I want to highlight and blend in with my Beauty Blender. You can see them in action here.

Guerlain Bronzer* | £34

Even though it’s winter I’ve still been enjoying a warm, sun kissed glow. To achieve it my bronzer of choice has been this one from Guerlain. The shade has a Red under tone so it looks like sun has naturally tanned the skin. It has a luminous finish that’s not glowy or satin, it’s very skin like.

Milani Rose Blush | £12

For blush I’ve returned to this old favourite. The shade Romantic Rose is the perfect dusty Pink colour. It goes with any makeup look and suits my skin tone so well. The formula is really finely milled and it applies with ease to the cheeks. It’s a great everyday blush shade.

Ofra Rodeo Drive Highlighter | £25 (full sized)

I love a blinding highlight no matter what I’m doing. I recently picked this mini Ofra highlighter up, I already really rate the formula of these highlighters. They’re like foil! But not chunky or glittery – they’re so buttery soft. The shade Rodeo Drive is a pale Gold colour, that works well on light to medium skin tones.

Hourglass Mascara | £25

This has been my go to mascara for a few months now. It’s amazing! It has a bristle brush which I don’t normally tend to be a fan of but for some reason this works brilliantly. It gives the lashes amazing length and volume. It doesn’t flake, smudge or budge throughout the day either. I also find that this dries really quickly, which I really like to.

Makeup Geek Shadows | £4.95 (currently on offer for £3.47 here)

Throughout most of December I’ve been enjoying a minimal eye makeup look. I’ve only been using the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in the shade Creme Brûlée, It’s a mid toned warm Brown colour. I like to apply this all over the lid and through the crease on a large fluffy brush and I’m good to go, The formula of Makeup Geek shadows is one of my favourites. They blend with ease while still having good pigmentation. And they last all day on me to.

Huda Beauty Lip Contour | £16

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know how obsessed I am with this lip liner! I’ve been wearing it alone because the shade is so stunning. Trendsetter is such a stunning Brown toned nude with a hint of Rosiness to it. It’s the best lip liner I’ve found for over drawing my lips to. It just looks so natural. The formula is so creamy to, it doesn’t pull or tug on the lips. I just can’t seem to put it down.

So that’s the makeup I’ve been reaching for recently.

Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?

Until next time…
